For 2005, do you think that the M sales figures include M35 AND M45 or just M45?

I wish I could afford a new car. The Q45 is practically a giveaway.

I think it is both - at least for the recent months at least! The figures may include some 2004 M45 sales ... even recently. I have heard some rumours of unsold 2004 M45's that are available at steep discounts, but do not know how true this is.

Since the 2006 model was introduced after the year started, I suspect that the first few month figures are the older 2003/4 M45 model only (and these are included in the YTD totals.)

I will post up the older months at some point too ...

Indeed! The M45 sales have hurt its sales badly, but since a loaded M45 is close in price to an unloaded Q45 anyway and only $12k or so less than a loaded Q45, Infiniti is not hurting much in terms of revenue!

Interesting figures. Funnyt the new Z sells at the clip it did, in 1984 Nissan sold 75,000 Z cars.

The new Q is a total bomb, 98!!! They got rid of the Z in 1996 when they only sold 6,000 copies. I have also found they are not sold at deep discounts and considering the huge dump they take when you put 1 mile on it, not a good car unless you want to drive it for the next 15 years.

Wasn't the Z, relative to inflation and income, also cheaper back in 84? Or did the price rise pretty high by then? I wonder how its competitors (RX-8) are doing. The new Mustang could arguably be taking some sales away.

Hmmm...Maxima sales seem to be leveling off around 6k/month. Sounds good to me.

Meanwhile, the neighbor down the street literally got in a fight with another woman at the Honda dealership for a "rare special limited edition" silver Civic (she got the car, and made sure the whole neighborhood found out).I'd like to compare production and sales quotas.

That brings up an interesting point.I'm sure it's available for nissan internal--I wonder if we could get a hold of a breakdown by model AND model year. It'd be interesting to see how many "leftovers" are still selling and how fast (for all models).

I generally prefer to see my favorite cars with low sales numbers, as it indicates a cult following and enhances the pride of ownership (this, of course, within reason--I wan't the car to sell successfully, I just don't want every dude and his mother to have one as well.) But somehow, seeing the M climb the ladder, I can't feel the same way. I want it to keep climbing, and continue to show the world how a real performance luxury sedan should be made. And continue to make me give serious thought to robbing a bank...

No, actually the Z i would think was much more expensive than the current model. The sticker on mine was $18,999, non turbo but i had the Leather/Digital package and t-tops. I think if you compare a 19k car in 1984 that is way more than a new Z costs. My 84' had 8-way adjustable leather seats with air pumps, a digital dash (I know it gets accused of disco but I like it still) and digital climate control, etc. The only other cars in 84' that had these features was Caddy and some MB.

I loved this idea, MoD, so I went searching ... and came up empty, I am afraid! No public information available - that I could find anyway.

It would be very nice to see if a "new" 2004 M45 was available somewhere in the country, and offer that dealer a deeply discounted price to take the car off their hands!

Back in Sept 2003, I got my 2003 M45 (had been sitting on the dealer lot for a year, I think, because it wasn't a loaded model) for way below MSRP! And, given the current M45 price, it would be a heck of a good deal for someone looking for a wonderful V-8 equipped Infiniti!)

I think that is a good idea for someone that wants to drive the car for 10 years...I think the resale on the older M is going to be a hurtful experience.

I drove one of the 2003's and it is a rocking car no doubt, but the new model is making such a splash.

Totally agreed! I do plan to keep my 2003 for a long time ... got the 7 year warranty coverage for that reason.

Quote »I drove one of the 2003's and it is a rocking car no doubt, but the new model is making such a splash.[/quote]Also definitely agreed. It is just that the price on the 2003/4 M45 could be worth it for some folks.
