Has anyone had any experience with either the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty or the JL Audio CL441dsp CleanSweep. Is there a huge diffrenece when connecting an Amp to the OEM stereo head unit with out either of these sound processors. And if you might know of other maybe less expensive ones, that be great. Thanks

I had a cleansweep in my Eclipse. It made my system sound nice. It let me use the built in bass knob on my stock radio. I have never used a 3sixty. I bought an R-eq for my altima. Havent installed it yet, but im not planning on replacing door speakers from where i have the bose.

I have the jl audio, partly because the 3sixty has some kinks still since its v.2 . There is a huge difference in that you cant connect an amp to the factory HU, you have to buy a hi/lo converter. then you connect the rear speaker wires to the converter and it turns it into a bass signal for the amp. An aftermarket HU or the cleansweep will have RCA outputs, which means you can run the cables right from the unit to the amp. This gives you a much stronger cleaner signal, one that even many untrained ears can pick out. A cleansweep unit is almost a necessity if you want anything besides low powered subs like 8"'s or maybe one 10".

Think of the cleansweep as a totally different headunit that you can use the factory faceplate for.

As for cheaper units, I would very strongly reccomend the cleansweep, but MTX makes bass signal restorers that are basically a very limited cleansweep. they take the signal from the factory unit and restore the bass and send the cleaned up signal to the subwoofer amp via RCA cable. the reason for this is that most factory units limit bass going to the speakers drastically because most OEM speakers cant handle frequencies that low without causing so much distortion the speaker gets damaged. remember speakers are damaged not becase theyre overpowered, but because theyre underpowered.

Wow!! that's all I can say.. I installed the JL cleansweep this past weekend and what a huge difference from stock, Its like having a good aftermarket head unit but still keeping the OEM look to ward off thieves, and I get to keep all the steering wheel controls. I love this forum, well now that its split I don't frequent as often as all the info is all scattered all over the place but still pretty cool.

Alright so, for anyone else out there, my audio shop friend saw me dis the three sixty (he's a huge rockford fosgate fan) and he's hooking me up with the new three sixty model thats about $100 more. I'll post my thoughts when I get it and how it compares to the previous three sixty and also the cleansweep.

As much of a JL fan as I am I've never had a cleansweep install that was completely noise free. I think that the rockford piece is nicer in features.

The rockford 3sicty.2 has more features than the cleansweep. Although, pricewise, the 3sixty.1 is reasonable, you get bad engine noise with the 3sixty.1 Also, my installer says that MANY (about half) of the 3sixty.1 installs that he does have had to come back due to various problems. The 3sixty.2 is a beast though, but that's why it costs what it does!
