Hello People,

What speakers would you recommend for my 1990 240sx?

Currently I have Infinity Reference 6412CFP with RMS of 45 Watts on both front door and side panel. They start dying after Volume on my Pioneer 4x40w CD Receiver is on 33. And thats out of 40.

Should I get something with higher RMS?Maybe around 90 watts? Maybe higher?

I am planning to use a speakers adapters from 4x6 to 6 1/2 if i will need to add more power.

What would you recommend?

Thank you in advance,siny240sx

they sound not that bad at all, but i guess i need more power. Dont you have an audio at all?

I think I would need to install speaker adapters 4x6 -> 6.5 and buy nice 6.5 coaxial or components.

any advices on brand?

maybe, did you check out those links i gave you? it'll take alot of custom work to get it in there, so its up to you, but if you want to fit stock, then no

yes, I have. they useful but nothing specific to my situation. I want something powerful than rms 45w Infinity I have. Maybe someone will give me an idea about wattage.

But, basically i see the picture. i would get 6.5 for both front and rear. probably component Kenwood. I had it before on one of my s14 and the sound was outstanding.

The thingy is I have never installed anything more or less serious on my first s13.

Btw, what do you think about these:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...69244

Have anyone had any experience with them?

, JL is expensive. unless you go with their low level TR series, i've noticed that all of JL's speakers can take a beating, but the TR series REALLY DISTORTS at high volume levels. And dont buy JL from the internet, they dont endorse nor will they hold their warranty on the products you bought from the internet. If you're looking into something in the middle go with infinity kappa series or pioneer. they both handle well under pressure. i dont have a clue how much elemental designs speakers go, but they sound pretty good too.

I just got the TR 650CXi. They can hold pretty well on loudness of a normal head unit. I don't think they were made for seperate amp though, only 50watts RMS on each.It has a mild but OK Hi-Tones on it. The reason being System Frequency Response: 59 Hz - 22 KHz ± 3 dB .There are very clear Mid-Tone and Low. Not as good as Focal Access but better than many junk out there.I saw Infinity at BestBuy but the audio setup was so bad you could hardly tell the difference.

Here's a good idea on how to compare speakers.http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=108

I had the TR series before i opted for the XR series. They weren't running on a stock deck, but running on the lowest pioneer deck i found. it still gave me 45Wx4 and the speakers still distorted. The store i used to work at(the good guys!) had pioneer, kenwood, infinity, eclipse, JL, and sony. In comparison in the sound room, i liked the infinity kappa series speakers. for their price it could compete with JL. Kappa series>pioneer. again all ears are different, its why you have to go in to hear them, not just look at specs.

I don't really know how head units work, but I had cheap Pioneer CD player in the car with 4x25w and it would distort the stock front left speaker at pretty much any volume while the three other were un-hooked. When I plugged in all the four speakers the distortion went away and I could push up to a reasonable level of volume.I think they tend to give too much on speakers that are hooked up, if some others are not plugged into the unit.

I bought a set of 2way 6x9 Alpine Type S for my fronts they hit the highs and lows. My stock head unit makes it sound like i have an 8" sub in my car. Although u need to redo the speaker housing. Slight modification but u can use plexiglass to fit it in. It also gives off better sound with the plexiglass backing. My rears are 4x6 Polk Momo's. They Hit Highs and Mids really well.

I got the JL Audio TR-650CXi in today.I set them in using 1/8" paper boards from HomeDepot. I covered the speakers with plastic bag cutouts. The door panels had matrtress toppers tacked on.As expected, the JL makes clear Mid and Low. Hi tone leaves more to be desired. The stock 4x6 2-way speakers had all their rubbers falling apart after 15 years.

Polk MOMO have un-clear low, they should be put in the front. I'll be putting my 6.5" JL in the rear once I get speakers with better high for the front.
