As some may know, might be making the jump to a very nice 2003 M45. I don't believe it has Nav, but as the regular (Bose) setup, with the CD changer and the *gulp* cassette player. Has anyone upgraded the head unit, or at the minimum, pulled the cassette player and replaced it? Is this a tough thing to do with everything appearing to be integrated in the dash? Are there aftermarket kits, or recommended units or procedures to get upgrade?

Thanks!

It's a CAN bus system. Fully integrated with the rest of the vehicle. Generally, no chance for an upgrade. Not even the speakers will play nice. Even removing the casette player is a disaster to the rest of the system from what I'v e been told.

Best you can do is add Satellite Service with some added equipment from Infiniti.

The tape player is the head of the whole system. Once you remove it you can no longer use the factory sub and amp. also the voice command will no longer work. But how ever i did have a flip out tv installed in my old m and the speakers sounded find to me. Just got another 03 m and am about to put a double din in this one where the tape player is. Im sure that it will sound fine. if not i can always change the speakers and buy a sub.
