No expert here. I am just looking for some advice on getting my tunes back on. I cannot find answers anywhere online and I'd rather not pay the dealership to diagnosis the problem. I have the factory Bose 5.1 channel audio system. When the volume is turned to the max (no matter the source CD, FM/AM, AUX, DVD), you can barely hear the audio, with low static. Is this just a loose wire or a more extreme issue where I will need replacement parts?

Welcome to the forum.

So if the volume is set to say, 80%, everything is fine? But 100% is almost no music, mostly static?

My guess is your amplifier is dying. It's in the trunk, top right corner under the rear deck lid...if I recall correctly.

Thanks

The volume has to be at 100% to hear any audio. And that is correct on the amp placement. I pulled all paneling from the trunk to see any wires came loose from the amp. Nothing.

I did read another post referring to the passenger airbag recall last year. The dealer did have to remove my dash during the recall. Would they need to remove the head unit in the process and possibly that may be the issue? Just wanted to throw that out there.

But most likely it sounds like I will need to replace the amp.

Yeah, they have to remove the radio to remove the dash. Follow my guide on installing a Grom or USA Spec unit (see FAQ in my signature) and remove your radio to make sure everything is plugged in securely (unplug and plug back in).

Was able to remove the radio and unplugged and plugged everything back in. No luck. Same issue. Going to try putting a new amp in. Hopefully that does the trick. Thanks again for the help.

Make sure you buy the right one from eBay (match part numbers). Keep us posted otherwise!

I ended up finding the same amp on ebay. Installed it. Still no luck.

Anyone have an idea what it could be? Could it be the radio unit that needs to be replaced?

I've been driving around with a portable speaker on in front of my display. I want my system back!

I mean, that's like the last piece of the puzzle left as far as I can recall...really weird...

BOSE home systems used a special equalizer - is there another, similar component in the car system? Does anyone have a wiring diagram? Also, is it possible that the speakers themselves are bad? (Unlikely that they'd all go together, but maybe one bad one throws the whole thing off?)

I am having this same problem. Can you specify what you replaced? Additionally, does anyone know where to find the USB port thats intalled near the seat heaters?

I ended up replacing the whole radio unit (06/07 Infiniti M35 M45 Bose 6 Disc Cd Radio Player 28185-EH200 SAT48) make sure you replace with same part.

Ilya ended up providing the removal process of the radio howto-remove-radio-and-install-grom-usb ... 99297.html. There are also some youtube video as well.
