Hello!

I just bought a '92 Q45 and am in love! Well...sort of.

The Stereo is missing the Sony 10 disc changer in the back.

I was wondering if anybody had any leads on a suitable replacement for the unit, or an aftermarket solution that does not involve replacing all the speakers in the car!

thanks,

-k

The stock unit, like the one on my 91, has a DIN plug on the rear of the unit that was originally for the built in cell phone. You can buy an adapter from QSIGUY which is a DIN to RCA type connection. Once you have the DIN to RCA adapter plugged into the unit, you can plug in a MP3 player or something more modern into the RCA plugs. When the DIN connection receives signal, it drops the radio so you can listen to music from the MP3.

I have one! I have a 91 Q45 which I've owned for 15 years. Sadly, the transmission is failing, so I'm looking for someone(s) that might find value in its parts.

I see that you are in Canada. I'm in Portland, Oregon. If it's something that I can unplug from the trunk without any technical knowledge, I could ship it to you.

Let me know if you are interested and we can work out the details.

@ OwnerCS
this DIN to RCA type connection that you speak of...will it allow me to connect a more modern head unit without having to switch out the Bose speakers (which work flawlessly)?

this is what i am planning on getting to replace the stock unit...

@DQuintana If it's a Sony 10 disc in the trunk, then I'm in. PM me....we'll see what we can accomplish.

The DIN connection is an input on the existing Clarion/Bose head unit used for the CD changer input. The RCA adapter CS refers to is just a way to input another audio source into the existing head unit.
