Any body know what would cause the audio system to fail, with a rhythmic flashing of the display almost like a cycling circuit interrupter? No blue tooth, no navigation system, and dealership has about ten hours troubleshooting to no avail.

other than a bad radio, bad ground or not enough amps or volts to power it all

If its not a ground issue or crappy electrical, you probably have a sh*tty radio. If the dealer has 10 hours into trouble shooting, I guess you can assume they checked the wiring and the ground. If you can check yourself, look for loose connections, broken wires, fuses, ground may be touching plastic or something, I don't know. I've installed more than a few personal car stereos, and usually if there is a problem its not that hard to find. Is audio replacement covered by warranty?

ok so it's a month later and 4 trips to the service dept. after disassembling an uncomfortable amount of the car's interior, i'm told that there was a pinched wire in the harness running along the a-pillar that handles antenna and signal boost amp duties. this is why the cd would function ok but radio use would cause system shutdown. a new harness is supposedly on the way, along with a new console compartment door that got all scratched up during service, and of course the new radio to replace the one with the now fried display, again a casualty of the "service" dept. it's a good thing i really like the car overall....oh yeah, and when does it become acceptable for a dealership to attach their merchandise (pohanka nissan license plate frame) to the front bumper with self tapping sheet metal screws?
