I just picked up this s14. With a aftermarket radio installed. Well only the rear left works.

I'm new to the whole radio install but ive done 3 installs and none had problems.

So the left rear only works and i went to look into adjust it on the radio and no adjustments so pulled the trims off and grabbed the harness and then it works like normal :lolling: So it is safe to say the guys who installed it didn't make a good connection, thats not big problem for me.

Whats mounted on the rear shelf in the trunk? Are those factory amps? Because there looks to be 2 rectangle connectors and they are unpluged and tied up in one corner. I found some silver wire from the front of kick panel fuse box running the to the back. Looks to be maybe power wires for a SUB or something

But main concern is why are those factory amps disconnected? Does the headunit offer enough power to bypass it? Is this common practice? Its a cheap panasonic radio, maybe $100 at most. I just wanted to have working speakers and some clean sound. I might put front speakers in this is why i'm asking about the rears.

If hooking up an aftermarket amp the factory ones would have been bypassed.

Or the old owner just bypassed the factory amps to run on the headunit. Apparently previous owner wasn't too good at this, so no telling what the reasoning is.

no sign of external aftermarket amp.

THe sound coming out of it doesn't sound underpowered. Should i leave it as is? I'm redoing the radio harness in the front for sure. Maybe the rear amp will make them sound better, just that harness back there is a HUGE mess and taped up all crazy.

So i was expecting a HORRIBLE tape up job looking at the rear speaker wires.

These look good aside from the me re-doing the yellow power and blue antenna wire.
