Hello Everyone,
I just picked up my 2002 Infiniti Q45 yesterday and I absolute luv it, the only issues with the car are all related to the stereo. The buttons related to the radio are dead no power @ all, do you guys have any suggestion where I should start looking and if the issue may be related to a fuse? Thanks for the help or suggestions.

Highlight in red are the buttons I’m referring too...

The CD changer looks different from our 03Q. Refer to the link below, starting on page 4 for fuses...

Did the installer make that faceplate for the cd player?

I'm going to be in Arlington to see family (I grew up in Dallas/Oak Cliff) at the end of march for a couple of weeks. Maybe we could get together. If thats a custom piece I would love to see how its made.

Also, when my temperature nob/dial/spinning thing on the other side quite working,I bought a used consol from a dismantler on ebay. Had to get 2 because they basicly ripped the first one uot of the dash.....
On the second one, I just undid all the parts from the back and used my front piece. I have a piano finish trim piece over the dull black.

Brian (yee of 5 trillion pieces of facts)

here is a juice little tid bit that I just discovered in researching mlawre's question on his attempt to buy a 03 radio etc off ebay.

Ok.... the 02 F50 RADIO/HEAD unit is in the center consol above the ashtray with the tape deck front. The CD player is in the glove box (we all know this) and the amp in back is NOT a sub amp. It is the amp for the entire sound system- every speaker is fed it's signal from the amp in the trunk. Not from the head unit. (don't think everyone really understood this.

Now, the big discovery. the 03 F50(and probably 04-06) (and almost certainly the 03-04 M45s)had the cd in the consol where the tape deck/head was in 02. The TAPE DECK AND RADIO/HEAD UNIT are in the glove box!!!!!

maybe its just me but I had assumed that the radio/head was still in the center consol but had a cd player on it were the tape player had been.

besides LOCATION, the system is identical to the 02, with the amp in the trunk feeding wires to all the speakers (8 or 11 or whatever.)

MCREWS - sup bro - tnx for the PM - I tried to reply but I guess you don't receive PMs so I had to stock you here lol
so here is my reply : u can always reply via PM if you prefer for the sakes of everyone else on here.

Tnx bro for the info - question though.....is the USA SPEC hook up better that the Jack hack you mentioned or is it about the same?

I am assuming that with a jack hack you recommend, that i would control the music thru the MP3/Phone what ever i use for music player, right?

and can you send me a link to the other forum you and infinite also use?

good looking out.

I am a little confused here. The center display panel controls heating/AC, NAV, info and maintenance function as well as the audio. The buttons connect to a multifunction switch box. This box communicates with the other devices and creates the display graphics. Also, does your car have navigation? The harness, display and component location is different.

Does the 4way switch and display work properly for the other functions? If not, the multifunction switch is your prime suspect.

If other functions work, does the display show radio specific information when you press the AM or FM button? If the seems correct, suspect audio box behind the tape deck ot the audio amplifier.

The 4 way switch is not the best design for an Infiniti product. Often instead of pushing down, the switch will slide up or down. I've become convinced the many of the product reviews suggesting to learn the voice command function because the dash switches were confusing just didn't know how bad this switch is.

Speaking of that, did you try the voice command? Push the button and after the beep say "Radio AM 970". Again, this is probably a defective Multifunction control box.

Little different than the other problems you guys are experiencing but it involves the CD player.

I have the CD holder filled *correctly* with CD's, yet everytime It plays it only plays track one (doesnt allow you to skip forward or back) and there is never any sound that comes out.

It says it is playing, via the counting off by seconds, but yet no sound is coming through the speakers.

Anyone know what that is all about? :wtf2:
