whats up!

so i have a 2002 I35 with the factory bose installed, and there are a few things i want to do.

I think the factory sub (or whatever speaker they use for that in back, might be a 6x9 or something) is blown. Does anyone have a good aftermarket recommendation to replace it with?

Also, I'd like to do iPod integration, but i'm not certain what's required. To my knowledge there isn't an aux port on the factory bose deck, and i'm not really keen on using FM transmitters. I wouldn't mind unhooking the CD changer as all it does is skip anyway. If there was some way to hook the ipod up instead of the cd and still use the steering wheel and deck to control it, that would be amazing.

thanks for all the help

I'm too trying to find the interface for my 2004 i35 but no luck in this forum, I'm thinking about strip down everything and start over with new HU.To answer your Sub question, it's an 8" sub you can either replace it with OEM or buy separate Sub and Amp with speaker line input so you can feed the speaker to your new Amp, this will bypass your internal bose amp. I would go with enclosure sub which give you better bass respond.FYI - you need 8" free air sub for replacement not just any 8" sub.

I use a cassette adapter. It doesn't have steering wheel controls but its cheap and sounds great!

I use a cassette adapter too. Sounds WAY better than a wireless FM xmitter. PAC makes this device that wires inline with your antenna. It's an FM modulator, but not wireless. Kinda like the old aftermarket CD changers used to hook up. http://pac-audio.com/productSearch.aspx ... 14&Model=I 35&ModelId=1565&Year=2002&YearId=13

Yeah, I use an FM adapter in the Q, too. LS has no cassette deck, so I'll probably end up having to get some kind of "real" ipod integration. :(

In-line FM modulator is an okay option, too. Audio quality still won't be as good as with a cassette adapter but at least you won't have reception/interference issues like you would with a wireless one.

As for steering-wheel controls, that's only possible if the factory headunit was designed with iPod controls in mind.
