Sorry about all the text I know nothing about audio so I need help with what to do. I have a Kenwood headunit and Kenwood speakers and a small amp in my trunk.I hate the headunit because it's to big and nothing works on it, it can't play burnt cd's and the cassette player doesn't work so I can't use the cassette that plugs into my Zune. I want a head unit like this http://www.onlinecarstereo.com...17371How would I go about replacing that with the old one, do I need something other than just the headunit? And since it is smaller would I need a trim piece to cover the smaller hole in the center console? Last thing, my amp has two wires coming out of it, would that go directly into a subwoofer?

You would need an amp for the sub power cable to the amp, ground wire from amp to bare metal on chassis, two lines in and two out for the sound. Depending on the car and the head unit you can generally buy a wiring harness that plugs into the car, then an adapter that will connect that wiring harness to the stereo... Otherwise the head unit should come with one that plugs in the back and will just have a bunch of color coded wires coming off. Then you buy one that plugs into the car, and wire the two together... Its about as easy as matching the two wires of the same color together.

Yeah, you would need something to cover the left over space... All of it should come with instructions, its pretty easy if you take your time.

I believe we have an audio subforum? Find that and read up.

try these guys: http://www.sonicelectronix.com...html#

they also send you free installation accessories that *should* include your dash adapter (to fill in the hole), and the wiring harness ( to connect new HU harness to car harness)

your amp should have 4 basic input connections:the amp power wire - usually connected to batterythe amp ground wire - usually connected to chassisthe amp remote wire - connected to the HU so the amp powers on when the HU doesthe RCA wires - also connected to the HU and carries the source signal from the HU to the amp.

then you'll have the outputs:there can be any # of output connections depending on the amp. most will be either 1, 2, or 4, channel. these will be labled with the + and - symbols to designate polarity for the speakers you hook up.

hope this helps.
