ok guys about a week ago i started getting this awful static noise through my head unit as i turned up the volume so did the static noise. So then later that day i unscrewed the headunit and as soon as i pullled it out of the dash (didnot yet disconnect any wires) it started cutting on ad off. Then all the sudden it completly shuts off. It still ejected and took in cd but it just wouldnt turn on and light up etc... So the next day i went a purchased a new head unit hooked everything up and....nothing, doesnt turn on, no signs of life. So i really am hoping there is no problem w/ the audio wireing harness in my car or something else in my car. ANy suggestion anyone else had this problem????

when i first got my car the head unit would lose sound randomly. upon furthur investigation it appears that our cars dont have a ground wire in the harness. the head unit is supposed to ground through the chassis, (theres a metal bracket behind it that it rests against). if it's not touching that it's not grounding. i followed the ground wire leading out from my head unit and found that it just ends at the other end of the harness, so what i did was take that ground wire and screw it into something on the chassis. you can get pretty creative, i chose the metal shift boot :D. little sanding to give it good clean contact and then just screw it in. you dont have to do it here, u just need to find a part of the chassis to use as a good ground.

check your power wire(s) from the harness to your deck as well. Could have some bad leads.
