Your sig saysyou havve modded carbs. In what way are they modded? Are they roundtop SU's by chance?

I've got a pair of roundtop SU's on a "low compression pistons"L28ET block with a P90a head. What do you think of this setup?

(It cranks and runs but finishing up front end before I get her out on the road.)

well my carbs are the round top 3 screw type, the throttle shaft bushings have been converted to sealed roller bearings, and the carb bodies have been bored out to a larger diameter. also the needles and jets have been changed. also that setup that you are running is pretty low perfromance, that engine is meant to be turboed and not run as a n/a. i think if you want some performance find a l28 block with flat tops and get a e88 cyl. head. that should put you up at almost 11:1 comp ratio. then use your round tops which are more than adequite.

Well, the carbs are only temp til I find a good welder and some quality metal to have a twin turbo exhaust fabricated so I was just looking to get by with what I got at the moment.

Any suggestions on a blow-thru turbo setup with my SU's?

no, su's dont like being blown through. they end up running super rich underboost and super lean off boost. i would reccomend using a draw through set up if your sticking with the su's.

Well I guess I'll skip the turbo idea then til I finish the rest.Know a reputable place to get head gaskets of varying thickness and material?:thinker

How thick a gasket would I need to raise the compression by 1 point?

From 8.5:1 to 9.5:1:help

Oh and I don't mind going the extra mile to wire up the Z girl to work in my car. Its just that the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual isn't that great.

um, i donot think you can raise the comp ratio unless you change the pistons or mill the head.

Close to Gainesville, up in the northern part.

Last time I went south I got a ticket for $320.00 for doing 147 in a 70 down in Pasco. That trooper was real nice, even let me go too.:D :D

I think I might have had it backwards.

Thicker gasket=lower compression NOT Thicker gasket= higher compression

i know, i said unless you have a thick gasket on there you cant raise the comp ratio unless you change the pistons or mill the head.
