The Chrysler “Imported from Detroit” ad:

The Audi knockoff:

“Audi has now settled the case out of court though the complete terms have not been released. Both parties are said to have reached the deal amicably and one of the terms was that Audi would charitably support the revitalization of Detroit by contributing to selected social projects.

“In a formal statement, Audi said it has “tremendous respect for Eminem and his works, and likewise for the 'Imported From Detroit' campaign which was created by Chrysler, and certainly Audi would never wish to insult or harm those parties or their fans and customers.”

That wagon is badass. Nuff said.

Chrysler is just getting butthurt because they're clinging to what they have left. Which is really quite funny because all their cars are assembled in CANADA and MEXICO now. That's just... :tisk: :tisk: :tisk:

Chrysler's Eminem ads are great. The 200, however, is the automotive equivalent of raw sewage. You could offer me the wealth of the entire world and I still wouldn't allow my name to be associated with it.

The name kills me.

"How do we make the Sebring seem even cheaper?"

"I know! Let's call it the 200 so people can make jokes about how you can't afford the 300!"

"BRILLIANT!"

Similar to the backward thinking that caused Ford to ditch the iconic and historically-significant "FiveHundred" name for Taurus.

I'd smile hugely if they brought back the misspelled Galaxie nameplate on a big rear-driver.

You'd think that for such a stylish car, Audi would find its own message.

Its pathetic on Audi's part, to have to steal an entire campaign from a lowly bankrupt manufacturer like Chrysler. Someone at the VW Group is getting fired this week.

Other than the song...how the hell is it the same thing?

One shows a dude power sliding, other show some guy probably looking for drugs at 2am.

It follows the same format pretty much. Same night-time theme, driving through a city, same angles.

Hell, everything is the same except for the vocal overlay and the language on the screen.

And yes, I like chrysler's better... even though my tongue stings after saying those words (granted, I don't like Audi either).

The suit was first initiated by Eminem's music publisher. Its like opening a restaurant called McDanold's and selling burgers.

The Chrysler commercial has a message, although it's not exactly true. The Audi one was so pretentious and douchebaggy I couldn't even watch it even though I love the Avant wagons. That last sentence is odd because I don't like Eminem either. What the hell did I just write?

Seriously though, what the hell was Audi thinking making that ad? It reminds me of the dorky Acura TSX ad with the hip hop music and the yuppie 20-somethings.

We aren't comparing the quality of the cars, or whether you hate Chrysler/Audi, or Eminem here. :picard:

Point is the overpriced VW (Audi) ad is a blatant ripoff of Chrysler's 200 ad. :wtf2:
