This is my little essay on WoW:Why?

Why do you play WoW? Do you like doing all these quests and crap?

I play WoW for three reasons. I like to kill fools, crafting items to help me kill fools and make money selling crap on the AH. (if you don't know what AH means then your just a nosey bastard who didn't read the title of the thread).

I'm only level 60 and I play on a PVP server... because I like to kill fools. My roommate and my other friends (cept for one who plays on the same server) play on PVE servers. They raid all the time and all this gibber gabber. I see no appeal to this at all.

They're go on about how they like the epic feeling and how they like playing the hero role.

f*** that sheet.

Homie don't play that disneyland bullsheet. Know what's epic? Some fools chillin Hellfire Peninsula killing some weird a$$ pigs, then.... LIGHTENING bishez!!!! LIGHTENING!!!! OMG CRIT OMG CRITTTTT You're DONE!! DONE SON!!! /dance

I hate questing. I quest to gain levels so I can kill higher level fools, that's it. It's seriously the lamest part of the game. That's why I've had this game for so long and I'm not level 70. I spend more much time walking around killing players or sneaking into IF/SW and screwing around then questing and doing instances.

Instances kinda suck too. It's too serious. Half the time I'm not even paying attention. I'm watching some movie or talking on MSN (cause cool people talk on MSN, not AIM). I always have the lowest DPS and I'm usually way behind the group. I should just macro "/p Hey guys wait up."

People complain about gankers a lot on PVP servers. Seriously, go cry to yo momma about that. I get ganked all the freakin time and I'll gank people right back. That's the best part. You know how if a member of the opposing faction does the /wave thing then thats like a white flag? It's like "/don't attack me and I wont attack you"f*** that too/Wave might as well mean /please kill me without remorse.Or /I wont attack you because you'll kill me before I have a chance.

Quote »Alliance: ...Me: ...Alliance: /waveMe: FVCKIN LIGHTENINGGGGGG! CRIT! CRITT! IN YO FACE! OHHH OHH YOU LIKE THAT HUH? WANT SOME MORE? OKAY! OKAY TAKE SOME MORE!!! YOU DEAD NOW OHHHHHH FOOL!!! Me: .../wave[/quote]Then you got some fools all thinkin they can try to attack me just cause. No sir they get the lightening. Oh yes, they get it right in their dirty whore mouth. Then, oh oh whats that? You want to respawn? WRONGLIGHTENING FOR YOUR BREAKFAST, LIGHTENING FOR YO LUNCH, LIGHTENING FOR YOUR DINNER! Midnight snack? LIGHTENING!!!!!!!!!!CALL YO LEVEL 70 GUILD MATES TO COME SAVE YOUR *** CAUSE I GOT ALL NIGHT TO SIT HERE AND KILL YOU!!!!!!

tl;dr: PvE sucks. Anyone else feel the same way?

rofl. I play WoW on a free server because I dont play a lot and I dont want to pay to play. Works for me. I agree that grinding and questing is pretty dull in MMOs, especially WoW, but thats the nature of the beast. I do like PvP though.

I'm COMPLETELY the opposite.

I absolutely fail to comprehend the appeal of PVP in an MMORPG. I like playing against other humans in other types of games. But in these random-number-generated roll-of-the-dice online games, all the fun is sucked out of PVP. The win is not based on who has the most skill. It's based purely on who has sunk the most time into their character.I mean, yes, skill CAN enter into it. But someone like me who doesn't play often has no chance of beating someone who does play often no matter how good I get, simply because sinking more time into the game means you've got better gear and stats. It's all about gear.

I'll qualify the above with one exception, though:WORLD PVP is a blast. There's nothing more fun that just getting a bunch of friends and assulting a random town, taking out vendors, quest-givers, and flightmasters, etc.But even that is eventually (or more often very quickly) hampered by the game's "play more, do better" design. I'll get slain by some guy who hasn't left his computer chair except to crap in 3 months and then at that point there's no more fun to be had for me.

Ding Ding Ding! the only games I play against other people are ones where every player is on equal footing, or at least has the option of using whatever weapons / gear their opponents do. I still quest on a PvP server but I don't search out for people to kill.

Otter, that made an ex-WoW player laugh!

I played on a PVE server, but I always had fun flagging and ganking.

One time, back when the level cap was 60, I was riding through the barens and saw some poor level 14 undead player flagged. I got just within range with his back turned to me and aimed shot his @ss. Hell yeah!

I was on my draenei warrior waiting outside SM once and there was a flagged pally a few levels shy of me flagged and taunting people. I knew he had a level 70 rogue stealthed somewhere. Why else would he do what he was doing. I decided to kill him before he could bubble and have his rogue friend eat me for a mid-evening snack. WRONG! I didn't crit, he lived, I died. You know what I did? I taught him a lesson in pain. I grabbed my 70 hunter and owned him and his buddy. They got so tear soaked, they had to go call in the guild to help. Shame most of them were getting owned in the SW tram.

I was a raider, and I still pwned the sh1te out of PVP

That's what a lot of people say about MMO PVP. There's not enough skill involved... but I dont care.

I rarely play single player games, unless it has a really cool story line. I only play to own up the noobs.

I play skill based games like CS, TF2, etc. That's a blast, I really love it. But I also like to grab me a sandwich, some chips, maybe a soda... then go walk around the world killing fools easy style.

Battlegrounds are alright, I only ever do those to get gear. Just like instances, they're a little too serious. Spend maybe a weekend just doing BGs, get my staff or w/e and I'm out.

Last night I chilled in STV just fighting everyone I saw. Awesome times. This weekend my friend who plays on this server (a hunter) are gonna sneak into IF again and get ontop of the AH and kill guards and whatever players are flagged

I was a raider that PvPed a lot too. I hated leveling and random questing but raiding was challenging when you were learning the encounters then boring as hell once you had everything on farm. Same goes for PvP though once you had top end gear PvP was awful unless you ran into people with good gear, and the only fix to this was arena which is just a 2/3/5 man duel not very fun at all. I think the most fun I had pvping was going to AV with a MT healer on my war and just decimating everyone in blues but thats really not hard at all.

i was a hardcore PvP nut Pre-BC after resilience killed the PvP. Mass raids on IronForge and SWC downing all Ally Bosses.(its on youtube search "those boat camping jerks)cuz now any lame-o can come in grind some honor and get decked out.

So i dont PvP as much anymore. some friends started up a Guild and we just got Kara on farm now trying to get badges for those Sunwell Badge vendor loots

well i also play on a pvp server and i must say that ganking really only pisses me off on escort quests. gank me all u want any other time but escort quest such as the tanaris one where the turtle resets every 30 minutes can really put a cramp in your day. other than that, i fully endorse the pvp server idea. playing on a pve server would lead to me actually being involved in arena.

now i am in total agreeance with ministerofdoom in that whoever invests the most time into the game will ultimately be better not because of skill, but because of the gear that they acquire. this means that any noob could literally run heroics all day for badges or arena all day for points and then end up with all the gear that you could ever dream of. is this fair? yes and no. the gameplay is built around the more you put in, the more you get out but there comes a point where certain things are just unobtainable unless you dive into it head first.

for instance, i personally don't own any resilience gear besides the vindicator stuff because i refuse to do arena with my hunter. i just can't see myself wanting to go in there and die up against someone in full vengeful. not to mention, it's hard as hell to find a reliable arena partner.

now as for the raiding aspect, i do try to get to kara, gruuls, mag, ZA, etc. but i've run into the issue that my guild hasn't progressed far enough for me to get into more t5 content. so now i have to pug those t5 instances which almost always leads to multiple wipes and then group dissociation since people get frustrated. so on the pve side of things, you have to find a guild that is making CONSTANT progress as well as being in content that supports where your at.

/rant

anyways, the game is solid and keeps my gas bill low but i definitely forsee myself getting bored of it after i get my 3 or 4 level 70s.

What's funny is I've actually walked around Tarnaris killing people doing that turtle quest, wait for them to get right to the end and kill them.

That and that robot chicken quest thing where you have to protect it as it walked back.
