If you are from Texas I need your help. I'm flying down to Dallas on Saturday Feb 22 to pick up my 92 S13. I have been trying to find out how to do title transfers down there but I'm not having much luck. I called AAA b/c up here they can do everyhting and even take the tax money and issue plates and registrations etc. The lady in a Dallas AAA office told me I would have to go to a "tax office" or something. I have called several different of these places different times and can't get through to someone. I need to find out how to transfer the title and get a temp reg either before I get down there or on the Saturday morning I arrive. I have to drive 1200 miles back to Pittsburgh to be at work Monday morning. Does anyone know anyhting about what I have to do? The current owner of the car didn't know what to tell me. :(

Thanks!

with a bill of sale and his and your sig on the title it shouldnt be a problem.

A friend of mine picked up a Q in TX for me the owner signed his portion of the paperwork and I signed my part of the title here in KY and just went ahead and registered it.

Repoman and I bought both of our cars in Illinois. We put our old Indiana license plates on the cars and drove them back. Because the titles were signed over to us, we took them to the BMV and registered the cars in Indiana.

Any sub-courthouse or DMV place should be able to take care of that stuff. I had to do that when I sold my old car.

MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE WITH THE TITLE!!!!! Tell the current owner to go ahead and get it. Even if that means paying off his lien now. I'm currently still waiting for the title to a car that was purchased last year (during the last BG meet actually). Apparently Georgia is EXTREMELY slow about all this. Also don't forget to get all the contact info you can about the seller. Also get his current bank name where the loan is at (if the car still has a lien against it). Also bring down certified checks from your bank with the selling amount on it and make sure the selling agreement reflects those checks (unless of course you're going to cut tax corners and write down a different amount). This way you have a record of actually paying for the vehicle.
