Hey guys, I just put nismo motor mounts on my KA and it seems to have moved the engine forward just a tad. I had to line up the transmission crossmember by hand (would have been impossible if the trans mount wasn't 30,000 years old) and then hold it there and bolt it in. It seems like it moved forward by maybe 1cm at the most. The driveshaft is still in the trans and covered by the little output "cup" and everything, its just further out than it was before.

Anyone experience this with the Nismo mounts? My old mounts were really terrible so maybe this is just how my engine is supposed to sit. Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed any re-positioning of stuff after the install.

Thanks guys!

The motor usually moves up since the mounts don't settle like the squishy factory units. That's going to drag the tail shaft forward if the nose raises up, but doesn't slide back.

i noticed this with mine too.
did you put them on the opposite sides like people say to? i put mine on normal and was thinking that could have been a reason the motor was moved up.

I'm not sure if it's relevant because I have a CA18, but NISMO made CA18 specific mounts and if you used the KA/SR mounts the engine wouldn't sit properly. I also know there is a definitely a left and a right. If you swapped them, it makes the engine sit funny.

I had issues with the trans x-member until I got the correct mounts and then I never had another issue after that.

They're definitely KA mounts. I guess its not a big deal. I know a lot of people were saying it will move the engine up (z-axis), I guess I didn't realize that means it will put the trans at a slight tilt and cause some other moving around.

Didn't want to put them on the opposite sides because of the little heat shield on the driver's side mount. Anyway, thanks for the input guys! hopefully nothing explodes. I was mainly worried about leaking gear oil from the yoke

If the yoke doesn't engauge as much as you think it should, I'd be more worried about it twisting.

Like a cheap socket or wrench will do if you have to use it in a position where the drive doesn't go all the way in, for example.

One mistake I made. I should have reinforced stock mounts with urethane instead of Nismo mounts. Too much headache...

i was in the market for motor mounts and was highly considering the nismo mounts for my KA. i wonder if these results would be different in an S14... would you still recommend them? why would Nismo make them if they cause problems?
