Whats your Ka setup SOHC or DOHC, and have u reached your power goals. Seems like everyone who turbocharges their single cam stops with their starter kit, usually a 7-10psi, 200-215 whp setup (not that those are bad results by any means).

Im looking into my own turbo setup. I believe the reason why people stop there is because at that point they do not have to rebuild their bottom end, above that point (~7psi) the ka bottomend will fall apart. I dont know from experience, but constant searching. there is information everywhere. read it all!

anyway, I am going to assemble my own turbo.

z31 T3 I believe, smic, fmu

good luck!

It will hold more than 7 psi...but it must be in excellent condition and tuned right. Dennis at Unstable Hybrids has been pushing 350hp, 15psi for quite some time without problems on a stock block. I know another person making over 300 reliably as well. The SOHC is limited a bit by it's head (more restrictive than the DE) but is still capable of high power.

but did he upgrade the pistons or rods?? anything like that? 15psi is pretty good. of course for someone who hasnt done a turbo before, me and I am assuming the poster as well, there should be some room for tuning error. I agree thought that a properly tuned engine without any detonation could hold more boost.

I know that i just want to be a little on the safe side

if tuned properly a KA should handle 10psi no problem if the engine is in decent condition. when i turbo my KA i plan on pushing it to 10 psi every once in a while (daily driven prolly round 7 psi) and i dont plan on a rebuild for awhile

It is 100% stock with a JWT ecu re-tune (I'm getting one too with that kind of reliability!)
