Well, I have my sub up and running, so it's time to address the midbass department in my 240.

I'm just wondering what component sets people on here are running in their 240's. This might give me an idea as to what sounds good with this particular vehicle's acoustics, etc. I'm looking at Focal, Diamond Audio, CDT, etc.

Budget is about $200 for a set of comps.

I'd suggest a little higher budget for front components if you are looking for nice set the Diamonds make a M6 series very similiar to the hex models just different cone materials. The most sound will be reproduced by these speakers 2/3 of the music to be certain so it should be more expensive than one of you sub woofers if you have multiple subs I really like the Diamonds. I've used all models and prefer the sounds of the hex models. The D9's are awesome but will require custom labor and $$$, and high Power amplifier not for everyone.

I had the Mb quart component set in my Impreza and I really like the way they sound so much that I had to buy them for my S14. Too bad they are not installed yet and have been sitting in my closet for 5 months

Forgot to add I only paid 125 shipped through that oh so glamourous Ebay

cool soon you won't be able to buy new MB product in the States. Rockford is only going to export. Not sure about the Marine products though.

I have the CDT CL-61A components in my 240 (a S13 hatch, if that matters to you). They sound pretty good, I was quite impressed for the money. The tweeter is a little "shrill", for lack of a better term, and I'm still working on the crossover settings for the best sound, but they're awfully good for $150 at thezeb.com. In fact, I went home last weekend, and while I was home, I stopped in at Tweeter (our local "high-end" audio/video chain), and really the only thing they had that sounded noticably better was a $1000 set of Focals.

For the money though, the CDT's are pretty good. Certainly not perfect, by any stretch of the imagination. But a *HUGE* improvement over a 240's stock speakers, and quite good in comparison to some speakers that cost quite a bit more.

yea I have heard nothing but good reviews for CDT component sets. Those were the speaker that everyone kept recommending me to get. The only reason I did not buy them was because I could not find a shop around my house where I could listen to them

Heh, I didn't hear them either. I just took the very, very, very slight risk that the CDTs might not sound better than the 4x6 Pioneers I had in there. The risk paid off.

lol, glad you don't regret the risk. Did you still keep the components 4x6 or did you move up to the 6.5 in?

Not sure what you mean . . . the 6.5" midrange is in the front door where the 4x6's were, and the tweeter is in the door panel as well. The 4x6 plate speakers are still in the back, but they aren't doing much, nor do they need to do so. :-)

Yeah that what I was asking if you put 6.5 in the doors or if you kept the 4x6 size. Did you have the factory 6 speaker system also?

Nope, it's just a S13, so the most advanced system they offered from the factory was the active speaker system, which was just powered 4x6's all around (4 of them). I'm working on bringing it up to date still. :-)
