Alright so theres now going back now, and i already primered most of my car for paint, so dont tell me to keep the factory paint job.

Now, ive been doing research, and from what ive read as long as you sand and prep for paint properly, primer and applying paint should look good so long as you use good technique and dont rush.

But ive also read not to mess with spray on clear coats. Any body have any suggestions for applying clear coat to a rattle can job and why i should or shouldnt do it?

Im using rustoleum primer and rustoleum gloss enamel for the paint. I was going to do about 3 coats of paint and wetsand between each coat. Then i was going to do the same for clear, but now im wondering if i should or not

It would definatley be easyer without clear coat, but i dont want my car to be a dull white and i would prefer it to have some nice gloss too it

Already seen that thread, but yup he did the same deal. Couple coats of gloss enamel rustoleum with wetsanding and a polish. Looks pretty damn good too for just spray paint.

And road boy, thats gonna look good after you finish it

It looks like as far as being glossy, im fine without the clear coat, but what im worried about is how well its gonna hold up to the hot florida sun

Ah alright, wasnt sure.

If my grandpa doesnt let me use his guns and paint im going to rattlecan. My car looks pretty sad right now with grey runny rattle can, so anything done better will look good.

thanks. and as far as clear i would say go for it just for weather and nick protection and stuff to help it last a little longer. on mine its been about a month and there is a few chips here and there from there not being a top coat.

in my city, using a paint gun (which i have) is considerd professional paiting which is a $500 fine. my friend was busted by this.

Thats rediculous, my grandpa has a booth setup in his garage and he did painting as a side job, ill try to find some of his work and post it up. He restored some old mustangs and 50's chevy trucks and they are absolutely beautiful, maybe ill wait till he gets back from colorado to paint my car . But i dont want to wait 6 months -.-
