masticatingcow wrote:UPDATE: I wanted to quadruple check that we're getting the right part, and I LITERALLY have checked four times, with four different people.

#1 Sales rep at StreetBeatCustoms. Says they're the right part.

#2 Parts guy at Xenon's distribution arm. Says they're the right part.

#3 ANOTHER parts guy at Xenon. Say's they don't have a picture, but that they have the part.

#4 Parts guru at Xenon USA. I sent an e-mail with a picture of the lip. He's going to call me back with the definitive answer as to whether or not they have them.

In short, the reason I haven't been e-mailing you guys like mad to get the money and shipping addresses sorted out is that I don't want ANYONE to get boned on this. This is a big deal, and I think we all want it to go smoothly.
masticatingcow wrote:UPDATE #2

We're not going to rush this. I'm in regular contact with all the sales reps - I have names and extentions for each, and we're figuring this out. The price is steady, and I'll be negotiating shipment. Let's project that the purchase will happen right around (perhaps right after) Labor Day. Get on board, all who dare enter!

I just got off the phone with Doc, the Xenon parts man. When he saw the picture I sent of the lip, he said, "I haven't seen that lip for years." He went through boxes of original 35mm shots for Xenon products and found one for 5351.

That picture is on it's way to my house. I should have it early next week. He described it like this: "It's a 1991 240sx coupe. White. I want you to tell me if this is close. Of course, you can't check for fitment, but if this looks like the part, give us a call and place your order through StreetBeat." He said nothing about a destroyed mold or it's unavailability. That means that if the picture is of our lip, we have the part.

Let's hope it's a match!
Now it's on the most current page.

Also, here's the pic we're hoping is a part number match...

Cool. Thanks for doing this. I bet most people will leave it unpainted. I'll definitely leave it unpainted. Anyone who's going to paint this to match your car? What's the finish? I don't think it's real black. A friend of mine, his Xenon lip looks more like dark brown. It might have been faded though. I wonder if they can make it just plain matt black just like OEM Chuki lip. You know what I mean? Can you confirm the finishing color when you get a chance to talk to them again? Just checking...

Sure thing.

Updated list. I haven't taken anyone off just yet because this may take a week or so to materialize. Everyone who at least WANTS a lip should be on this list. We only need 10 for the GB, so unless everyone bails, anyone who can pay for one will get one.

For now, you hold it. I need to confirm that Xenon and StreetBeat are using the same parts numbers before anything else happens.

Since we have to place all the orders at once, I'll get quotes on shipping to each guy and then you'll send me the money. DO NOT DO ANYTHING YET, though. If we can work out some kind of purchase code that lets StreetBeat know that you're part of the GB, then each guy can order his own. I have yet to figure that situation out, frankly.

I'm in (if still possible) on this. That lip is awesome.

As long as shipping to the east coast isn't crippling, I'm all over that thing.

Since the lip is still available, does that mean the rest of the kit is as well? I kinda like those skirts.

... and then inject urethane? IDK, I think it better to leave it to the pros. I doubt that it would be that cost effective to start producing the part... at least not for 20 orders...

Hey masticatingcow,

I live in Australia and have been hunting this lip since I saw it in a pic a fair while ago. Does anyone have xenon's current website? The only one I can find is teamxenon.com and it seems well outdated. Sent you an email but no reply :< maybe my isp's spam filter auto killed it.

Managed to read through the thread proper and this is def the lip I want. I have a 1995 180sx, same nosecone as your 'chuki's'. If you could forward me xenon's contact number and or current site would be great.

If there's anyway I could be in the group buy that would be great too.

my alternative email is [email protected]. i don't know how to remove the isp junk mail filter for my outlook/isp account.

I'm glad to hear that you got different information than I did a year ago. I dealt with 2 different people at Xenon and 2 different distributors and in the end, like I said earlier, was told that mold was destroyed and they wouldn't be making any more. Maybe things have changed, I sure hope they did. Even Nissan is no longer able to get this part and it was a Nismo part but came with the Xenon stamp on it.

Count me in if it is the correct lip since I had all but given up hope of ever getting one.

How can I install this? My new Chuki front bumper has been painted recently, so I don't want make screw holes all over it. Just some double sided tape will work? I appreciate if you also check this with Xenon. Are there any installation hardwares involved? Thanks!!
