A friend of mine has come up with a way to make your headlight lenses clear again. He will be starting to do this service soon and he will guarantee that your lenses stay clear for as long as you own the car. He has not set a price for the service yet, I'll post that along with some pictures of his work soon. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. It just sucks for us Zenki guys b/c there arent really any aftermarket lenses, and new ones cost too much. I'm not sure about turn around time yet, if you dont live in South Carolina, you'll have to send the lenses. I'll try to get all of the details and some pics ASAP. Any of you guys interested??

yes pics would be nice... for me sandpaper from 2000 to 3000 and novus 3-2-1 worked great for me. Still has a slight yellow a lot better than the original....

BTW, in camera pictures the yellow doesnt usually show up very well.

Well, the lenses on my brother's Mustang are really bad. I'm gonna take them off and let him do them this week. You will definitly be able to see the yellow in the pics. He says they will be crystal clear, like new. I will definitly let you guys know how they turn out and post pics of his work.

IB = I Bet or I Believe

Try going from 1000 then 1500 then 2000 then use novus 3-2-1.. Novus gets rid of ALLOOOT of scratch esp after the second step

Ok, I saw some pics of a pair of Civic headlights that he did. AMAZING! They looked like brand new. Those things were so yellow before. He has my brother's Mustang headlights and will do them this week. They were pretty cloudy looking before, looked soo old. I'll post before and after pics as soon as I get the lights back.

I don't know the exact year, I didn't ask. It was the 96+ body style with the big bug-like headlights.

now use 2000 grit paper and if you can't find novus, go to pepboys and find 3M rubbing compund ($10), on the backof the bottle it says "for 1500 or finer grit paper) and voila... i did a whoel write up on this awhile back.

there's meguiars plastic lens polish. good for plastic and glass. works like a charm. it's called PlasticX.

and apparently the dodge guys use toothpaste. Neons are the worst for this yellowing. so they should know their stuff.

I've honestly tried all of that. My lenses arent that bad, they arent foggy looking, but, the plastic definitly has a yellow tint. They look bad next to my side markers. I'll be posting pics this weekend if not sooner.

Has anybody tried using that Flitz Compound and buffing wheel, the one thats been on regular network tv. I used to use flitz to clean up the tarnish on my brass instruments(trombones and baritone) and worked like a charm. I saw the commercial and it looked like it just stripped the yellow oxidation off the plastic lenses, wonder if its too good to be true for plastic anyways. for metal though i know it works mint.

Ok, sorry for the delay guys. I've been kinda busy, but, the headlights are done and on the car, I'm going to take pics and post them tomorrow. I also got my headlights done!! I'm telling you, LIKE NEW!! Mine weren't real bad, but they were definitly yellow compared to my side markers. Now, they are brighter than my sidemarkers!! I can actually look through the lens and see my headlight bulbs!! I'm going to post pics tomorrow. Stay tuned!!

Ok, I put some pics in my yahoo briefcase. Here is the URL http://f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/cory2081

As you can see, my lights are now crystal clear. I have more pics and will put them up shortly. I'm telling you, if you have yellow lenses, he can make them as new and it's alot cheaper than buying new ones!!! Mine weren't too bad, I forgot to take close ups of them before we fixed them, but, you can see the yellow in that pic of my engine. Let me know what you guys think!!

Yeah, it totally made my car look so much better. If you like what you see, let me know b/c my friend does this as a service and gurantees that they will never turn yellow again as long as you own the car. This is great for us Zenki guys since there aren't any real alternatives except to buy new headlights!!

JCwhitney used to sell a cerium oxide glass polishing compund in a kit for windshield scratches. My dad's old pickup had scrapes on the glass from the prev. owner forgetting to put on wiper blades somehow and this stuff took it right off, one step. I've used it on plastic and glass and it makes a perfect finish.

Where are you located?? The problem is this, you'll obviously have to ship the lights. He can do them the day he recieves them and ship them out the next morning. He and I are trying to figure out the best way to do this, it wouldn't be a problem at all if your 240 is not a daily driver. The charge is $50 and the finish is guranteed for as long as you own the car. He's just now starting this service and when he told me about it, I just had to let my fellow NICO members know b/c I too was suffering from the yellowed headlight disease...lol...I suffer no longer. If you are seriously wanting this done, let me know and we can figure out the shipping and when it would be best for you to send them. If anyone needs more info, you can drop me an email at [email protected]. I posted some more pics in my briefcase just now. They are of a Civic and you can REALLY see the difference in the pics. Check them out!!

Well I have glass lights so they dont look as yellow as yours did. They're pretty clear, but a lil cleaning is in order.

ok, so we would need to pull off the covers and just send those correct? Not the entire headlight...

Just trying to make sure before I go pulling things apart that don't need to be I'll stick to making the car fast and letting others make it pretty.

Yeah, I guess you could just ship the lenses. It would be more work on your end to do that, I heard that they are a pian to get off. You can ship the entire assembly. Like I said, it would be kind of difficult for someone that has to drive the car daily to do this. I wouldn't suggest removing the lens and driving the car without it, you will most likely end up with blown bulbs or damaged housings, especially if you got caught in some rain!! If I could get enough people lined up to have this done, I could POSSIBLY buy a pair of used headlights and have them done. Maybe ship those and charge like a "core charge" or something that is refunded when he recieves your headlights. I dunno, like I said, we are trying to work out some easy way of doing this.
