Has anyone bought one of these shifters from RB Motoring ($110)? If so, what are your impressions (quality, feel, throws, etc).

Why not get a short shifter rather than a solid shifter. It just doesn't seem worth it for just a more solid feel

You can also just take an air cut off tool and cut off the top part of the shifter which is a metal casing around some foam. The foam makes the shift less solid for the daily driver as well as lengthens the shifter quite a bit. Only problem I forsee is the one I am having where the shift knob almost hits the shift boot ring in the center console.

I can get RB Motoring stuff cheaper from RB Motoring since I have an account with them.

For my car personally I got the Nismo Short Shifter.

Search up "skyline shifter" in the completed auctions on ebay. They have some knock off c's short shifters for around $100 shipped. I will probably be buying one sometime after christmas

I have the Nismo Short Shifter for the RB25DET. I can give you the part number tommorow if you want. I got the part number from Shea @ Nismoparts. He faxed me the catalog for that page and it listed a Nismo Short Shifter RB25DET ECR33

I got "32839-RN590". I don't know the specs on it, I do know it is a Nismo Short Shifter because it came in a Nismo Box. It's not the solid shifter because it has the insulation.

thanks man!!...I'll look into it and see what i can come up with.

well I just looked a couple places and this is what i came up with, http://www.nengun.com/catalogue/product/696it pretty much says they make a solid shift but not a quick shift(short shifter) for the R33 RB25......I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong, I'm just trying to find a place where it says ''short shifter for RB25DET"

This has been my only shifter, and the car isn't running. I just went straight from stock to this one. I have to find it and compare it with the stock one for all you guys. Stay tuned for photos.

Okay guys, here it is. Now, I will have to say first of all, my point was that Nismo did make a short shifter for the RB and not how great the product was is. The Nismo short shifter isn't that much shorter, but I think it has improved the bottom part a tad bit (underneath the ball where the bushing is), and in fact, it is shorter.

Here is my proof... hope you guys enjoy. (Nismo on top, stock beat up one on the bottom)

I found one on Nengun for $158. Not too bad of a deal, but for 10% shorter throw is it worth it? The quick shift reduces the throw by 25% but is only made for HNR32, BNR32, BCNR33, and Stagea WGNC34.

Guys this is not very hard. The nismo unit is not a full on "short shifter".... That's why they call it a "solid shifter" It may shorten the stroke slightly from the shorter length of the shifter, but its main purpose is to give a more solid and precise feel in the shifter. It would be like changing rubber bushings out to urethane bushings.

An actual short shifter like the c's or b&m actually change the pivot point on the shifter, hence shortening the stroke. These shifters are desinged to give a solid and precise feel.

Now as far as I know only the c's type shifters are actual short shifters. Some one on this board has also modified a b&m short shifter to fit also.

Solid shifter under my impression doesn't have the rubber insulation. That's why they call it SOLID as opposed to SOFT. Sure, the C's and Attain, etc.. those aer all different stories. But I have heard of Nismo shifters not having the insulation, thus, they called those SOLID.

yeah, what you have is the solid shifter and it has a 10%, shorter stoke, and the quick shift has a 25% shorter stoke but they don't make it for the RB25, this is what it says on Nengun.......Nissan HNR32(GTS4) BNR32,BCNR33, Stegea WGNC34 (260RS)(Quick Shift is Only made for these models)........here is a pick of the quick shift...
