well im have problem with my revhard.

the damm studs keep walking back out causing the turbo to lift and cause a crazy exhasut leak. why? the nuts stay on but the whole studs come off.

i was driving hard last night and the studs came loose. i know alot of people just use bolts instead of a stud and nut.

anyone have a bolt size or know where i can get them?

thanks

I used bolts and never had a problem. Pull a stud, drive up to the hardware softly, and get a bolt of the same size..

You will have to cut one bolt to fit it in between the turbine housing and bolt hole.. I'm sure you know which one..

I had a problem with my bolts coming out on my downpipe-turbo... After trying all kinds of gasket maker, threadlocker etc.... I ended up putting electrical tape on the threads then threading it in... No problems

Threadlocker will not work at those temps. Get yourself some knurled washers and bolts. Forget about spring loaded lock washers, the heat will flatten them.

So far I am using the oven gasket stuff on the studs and 100 miles later no problems. I bought the studs, nuts and gasket maker from JGS. Good luck!

TheRevhard uses the same threads as Nissan does for the mani to head studs. This means the Nuts for the mani to head studs will work. The Nissan nuts for this are mechanical locknuts. Serrated washers and the like never worked for me, but mechanical locknuts worked flawlessly and were reusable.

Just make sure the studs were tightened down properly using the doule-jam nut method and use mechanical locknuts and they should not come loose.

WDRacing: safty wire bolts? same question what do they look like and where to get them. my professor was telling me to use this aswell, he said they used this on plane turbos so the bolts wont walk out..

DammitBobby: i called jgs and they said the bolts wont fit a revhard manifold? im confused..

C-Kwik: so if purchased 4 exhaust manifold studs i could use them in my revhard ?

You should be able to find a knurled washer at any hardware supply store. Any stud that will screw in is the stud you need.

I've used serrated washers before and while they took longer to back out, they still did.

Safety wire works well, but can be a pain in the butt on the turbine flange as space can be tight. You can also try Stage 8 locking hardware, but for the cost, mechanical locknuts will hold fine and are relatively easy to get as long as you're near a Nissan dealership.

Here's a great article, Safety Wire How To.

You can buy hardware such as nuts and bolts that are predrilled with safety wire holes. We safety wire EVERYTHING in the aviation bussiness.

Safety wire can be a pain, but it is very effective. I had used safety wire for my wastegate as there was noway to use studs and a nut due to the configuration and locking bolts were cost prohibitive (cheap per unit, but I could only find it sold in bulk). But another tip about it is to use a drill to twist the wire. Stick the ends in the drill, tighen the chuck onto the wires and squeeze the trigger. This will make the wire twist easy, fast and consistent. Do be cautious not to overtighten though as you can snap the wire. Once it's tight, just clip off the excess and you're done...

thanks alot

ive purchased m10 1.25 bolts 25mm those seem to fit the revhard well.

my plan is to use those + lock washers and lock tite and hope for the best.

i just have to cut down the front bolt so that it can fit in with the turbo, the clarence is tight.

any one have problems with this bolt staying in b/c its short?
