I have a piece of junk Blitz SS (the old one) on my SR, not recirculated. My idle is fairly low, and it fluctuates from as low as 400rpm, then jumps to about 1100.. itll hunt like that til it stalls. However.... When I unplug my MAFS the idle sets to a solid 900 rpm purr. When I plug the MAFS back in it hunts and stalls again.

I'm about to order a new hotpipe+ HKS SSQV from Heavythrottle. I've heard good things about that BOV, (it doesnt leak at idle). I may even decide to recirculate the BOV in the future.

Will a new/better non leaking BOV solve my idle problem, or is there something else I should be looking at? (BTW, I just purchased the MAFS from a NICO member, it seems to be in 100% working order)

thanks

Check the wiring. Whats the serial number on it?

So this problem sounds more like a MAFS problem than a leaky BOV? The MAFS is from an SR (not KA24E). My wiring harness is brand new from Courtesy Nissan, and all I did to the MAFS wiring was extend it across the engine bay.

Hey man, just wandering if you ever got this problem resolved. My newly sr swapped 240 is doing the exact same thing as yours. Idle jumps around and stalls but idles good with MAFS unplugged. I even recirculated my bov and it still didn't fix this problem.

the HKS SSQ is a marvelous invention heh.. you can recirculate that BOV and more than likely, have no problems with it.. if i were you, i would just go ahead and upgrade to a MAP sensor or try BIKIROM and get rid of the MAF or MAP..

Gosh damn guys look this up before making 1000000 posts. Its cause you have a atmospheric BOV.... Almost all SR OR MAF cars that are turbo with a Atmospheric BOV do this cause your takin air that has been claculated by the MAF and getting rid of it so the car floods out.

By unplugging the MAF your car will idle right because its in safe mode of sorts but I bet if try to rev it the car boggs out and stumbles.

Try reading the post.

He is having an idle problem at a standstill.

I would say it is the MAF. Check the voltage, and also tighten down the adjustment on the BOV.

I did read the title and a BOV not being recirculated can cause problems at idle. Take for example mine did the same thing when I stop recirculating the stock Bypass Valve. Even at idle it would have trouble. If I put the pipe back on ran fine..

The stock bypass valve leaks because it is a peice of crap.

BOV's do not leak if they are properly tensioned.

Recirculation is for pansies.

I have the hotpipe with the HKS bov from Heavythrottle unrecirculated. It idles fine, kinda low sometimes but it never jumps around. The only thing that ever happens is if I excellerate and rev high then take it out of gear and leave it out (like a neutral drop) it'll stall out... but that only happens if I'm dumb and ricing around
