So yeah, I'm thinking of getting an atmospheric blow off valve sometime in the near future but I know with those, the air that is released isn't measured so the engine dumps fuel into the cylinder without the registered amount of air... now my question is, how do you fix this? Do you NEED a fuel computer or something or what's the deal? I have the greddy Profec B spec 2 boost controller but I doubt that will do anything as far as blow off valves and air are concerned...

You can use a mild AFR tuning device

e.g. HKS Super AFR (which has the EIDS function built-in)

or the HKS EIDS unit itself (if it's still sold) to just fix the rich condition caused by blowing off metered air

BTW, I've been running an atmospheric bov (Blitz DD) on stock boost for half a year without any stalling problems.

take your maf and put in in the charge pipe before the throttle body.

hmm now that's an idea... although I have a FMIC so I'd have to do a custom deal. Eh, I think I'll wait and buy a apexi afc as well.

It is a good idea however, you have to get your ECU recalibrated since the measured air will now be traveling a lot shorter of a dirstance than it has before.

Just don't place it too close to the TB.

Also, get a catch tank for your valve cover breather instead of connecting it to the intake tube. or else expect your MAFS to get coated in oil.

Why not just recirculate it?

either way. there shouldn't be any problems with open atmos.

There shouldn't? I've always heard your motor will bog since the air the ecu thinks is there is now ejected into the engine bay and out of the intake charge..

And I don't want to recirculate it because I like the sound.

Venting to the atmosphere will cause the car to try and stall when you drop from a gear into neutral. Also it will make the car bog slightly between shifts.

The reason some people say it wont do anything is because sometimes different people's cars suprisingly have less problems with atmospheric BOV's than others.

With any atmospheric BOV on a MAFS system you will still have bogging shifts even after you buy the SAFC. Basically the only thing an air fuel controller will do is keep the car from stalling at idle. It senses the idle dropping too quickly (Stalling) and stops the car from stalling.

Hmm, perhaps I should stick with the compressor surge....

If you get a power fc d-jetronic or hks fcon v pro you can eliminate the pesky mafs and run an open air bov all day long w/o stalling

Definately don't want compressor surge, get your BOV and just run it recirculating. You can still have some noise, and no stall, sputter, or bog

Greddy type S, HKS ssqv has an adapter you can purchase. I think turbo xs makes one?

i've been running mine without recir. for awhile now. how do you guys recirculate it? I've been looking everywhere for a hose that will work but i can't find anything that's about 1 1/4 diameter. i've tried using a carburator hose but it punctured through it right after 1 blow off.

Just found another post, and it depends what kind of BOV you are using. Read the post
