You won't get too far tuning it yourself without a dyno handy so that you can watch the power band each time you re-tweak it.

If you are going to take the car to XS Engineering to have it tuned, good luck. At least they will do a good job with it. Still would rather see standalone though.

So whats the consensus? A properly tuned ATM BOV vented to the atmosphere on a MAFed engine (SR) is ok? It seems that noone is having any major problems.

Right. Just as I have always said, and why it annoys me when people talk about all the "problems" ATM BOV's cause.

Leaving your bov/bypass valve to the atmosphere doesn't kill you or performance. All my friends vent out their bov's to the atmosphere and they don't experience any problems. 2 talons, 2 eclipse, 2 fc rx7, 1 suburu wrx, 2 mr2, 2 240sx, 1 crx, and 1 civic coupe.

Well, on Hondas, it doesn't matter. They have MAP sensors.

I know the DSM's do. Thats where all this hubbub about venting problems came from. The other cars, I believe they do, but thats not my area of expertise.

I have hks super sequential(sp) on my srd 240. I wouldn't say i really have a problem with it, but if i drive hard, come up to a light my idle is a little loopy. It will bounce from like 500-800 and then after like 5 seconds it holds at 800 or so again. The car has never died due to the bov, and my air filter is only 3-4 inches away from my bov. I also have a safc 2. It seems alot better then the safc 1. I kinda like it, and it has a knock sensor. You can also set warning levels or rpm, boost, and a bunch of other stuff. Id love to get a stand alone, but this will do for now. And my car will also be dyno tuned once i get my vss from nissan. Right now i am running my 240 without a vss hooked up cause i did a manual conversion and didn't have the usdm mph vss. Without a vss hooked up the car will run in a safe mode, and u have to shift by 6 k in 3rd and up or the rev limiter will kick in. But in 1st and 2nd it will go to 7500. It is taking nissan a long time to get the vss, but hopefully i will have it this week and get my car dynoed on friday... Ps the place that did my swap but a redtop into a 240. The car had less mods then mine, and they got 241 hp, and 254 torque. I was pretty impressed. The guy is running a manual boost controller and it spikes to 14 and drops down to 12. I hoping to break 250 hp when i dyno. I will be sure to post pics.

Do you have an S14 SR20DET in that S14? If so, what pin is the knock sensor to splice? I have the S-AFC 2 hooked up on my S14 SR20 but the knock sensor pin was not on the diagram and no one has been able to tell me which pin to splice. Let me know if you can help, thanks...

All my friends' cars have an air flow meter except for the Hondas.
