that's a good question... if anyone has the anser to that one maybe you can enlighten us on what to do if we have a 96-up 240 to get around the obd2 thing if our county ever gets emissions inspections.

Don't know about the OBD2 issue.

Yes, an S13 with a properly maintained SR20 should pass. My CA passed with flying colors in Coweta county, as did my buddies SR. Both with just hi-flow cats.

is it just a sniffer test fro OBDI cars? no visual inspection or any problems like people in cali have?

i've only had OBDII cars before.

They may pop the hood to put a rpm sensor on the engine, and check to see if you have a catalytic converter, but that's it. No visual check of the motor.

In my experience, the emissions drones are half asleep, and don't care what motor is in the car anyways, if by some slim chance they even know.

well, if anyone knows the loopholes for 96 and newer cars I'm dying to know. I live in Jackson County, GA and the next county south of me has had emmissions for years, so its only a matter of time before owning my 240 is going to become a nightmare. I have a 95 wiring harness in mine because of an electrical fire. I know there are Koukis out there with SR20s I just want to know how they get away with it.

probably either register in a no emissions county or get a hook up at an emissions shop.

A guy I know who used to work at a garage told me that if I ever needed to pass emissions with my CA, they'd punch in my VIN, then run some other 4-banger. I'm not sure if you can do the same with OBD2.

Don't quote me but I believe the OBDII cars will pass as long as the check engine light is not on. I don't mean just pop the dash out and bust the bulb, I mean as long as the car thinks it's running ok and all it's sensors are functional, the emissions machine won't see anything different. If you have to take a sniffer test you definitely won't pass running rich. My friend failed the **** out of his first test, went and bought a wideband, tuned to 14.5 AFR's all the way across, and passed squeaky clean, lol. Of course this is not good for the car but I don't think they really run them balls out on those little roller thingys anyways. Hope that info is accurate and helpful.

OBD2 cars don't get the sniffer on the rollers, just a plug in.

For an SR in a 96+, with no/nonfunctional OBD2 hookup, I dunno what you have to do.
