Agreed whole heartedly. Most professional shops are iffy on the use of a UR Pulley on a street car and some will not even install it on a street car. If you have a/c when the clutch engages the little jolt on the main pulley is absorbed by a thin piece of rubber between the main pulley and the outer ring (biggest 2 belt locations). You can see the rubber if you look at the back of the pulley. The power steering and alternator also causes jolts but it is minor compared to the a/c compressor. The UR pulley will not absorb any of this shock and can destroy bearings very quickly! If you have the $450 for the ATI OR if you have an investment of more than $2000 on the motor you would be wise to spend the cash on the ATI Super Dampener.Seishuku wrote:Personally, I would go with ATI. That extra vibration at 9000RPM could shred a belt or destroy a bearing, so I would go with something to absorb that.
thanks for the advice! although, I probably should of added that everything that has to do with the AC has been stripped from the car. but even asides from not having to worry about strain from the AC, does the extra reliability from the damper win over the performance gain from the UR pulley? what if my rods and crank are ballanced?doridori23 wrote:

thats my choice then. Hopefully I will get my engine back from the machine shop after next week!Seishuku wrote:For the safety, I would say there's no question. ATI all the way.Especially if you have a lot of money put into the motor.
i already have an aluminum driveshaft and a HKS GP Pro twinplate clutch/flywheel.spider_slayer wrote:since its only 1/2 lbs your saving why not jsut use the stock pulley?
get a lightened driveshaft or something.
Thanks! and which pulley is this one for? (ati super)doridori23 wrote:GReddy/ERM/Megan/etc includes alt, water pump, and PS pump pullies.
thanks so the greddy kit has nothing to do with said pulley right?doridori23 wrote:ATI is a replacement Main/crankshaft pulley
correct.nwmrkt wrote:thanks so the greddy kit has nothing to do with said pulley right?
