Hey guys I'm getting a G37 when it comes out but I can't decide with color to take.

Originally I thought about getting PG but when I saw the BS, I thought that was going to be my next ride. After pondering for days, I finally made up my mind and decided to get either the OB or AB.

Right now I'm leaning towards getting AB but my only concern is that it may be too girly of a color? I like it because it looks more lively than the black but what do you think of Athens Blue?!?!

I personally think that Athens Blue isn't a girly color at all. It looks really good on the G37. To me, Athens Blue makes the car look much sportier than the one only good OB picture out there right now. You can't go wrong with either one.

Both will work fine. It all depends on what image you are trying to project. Exterior and interior colors combine in their effect. For example, black/gray is very formal while black/black is quite sporty. Athens Blue is a strong color whose impact is greatest with a black interior. A gray interior mutes the effect but may make it easier to live with in the long run.

The two most important questions to ask yourself are (1) do you like the combination now and (2) will you still like it several years from now. The second question is more important than the first. Right now, Athens Blue looks the most attractive to me, but I wonder if I would tire of it eventually.

Sooner or later, it seems that every forum gets a thread about whether a car or color combination is "too feminine" for a guy to drive. In my opinion, it's the driver's personal effects that determine its gender. I think you would agree that a black/black Dodge Charger is a masculine car. Now, consider one with a necklace or charm bracelet hanging from the inside rear view mirror and a fuzzy toy stuck with suction cups to a window. Virtually any car can be masculine if you keep it clean and free of clutter. I don't think any G37 color combination is necessarily feminine.

My second choice was Athens Blue. Would look killer with the Wheat/Rosewood interior - very luxury. However, I finally decided on Platinum Graphite with Stone/Washi interior. I figured the exterior color is elegant but not too dark and hides dirt well. I live in Miami, so getting black w/black leather is like asking to be cooked inside your car - Stone made the best sense. Another reason was that the dealer indicated Wheat interiors had the quickest tendency to get dirty and show wear. I was a little disappointed that they nixed my two other favorite colors - Diamond Graphite and Lakeshore Slate.

I agree with you about the good and bad points of Athens Blue with Wheat and Rosewood.

My own choice would be Athens Blue with Graphite. However, my wife, with whom I will be sharing the car, doesn't like black interiors. Stone is a good compromise.

Of course, this could all change once we see a real car.

I have an '05 Audi A6 in midnight blue/wheat. (The latter isn't the official name, but you get the idea.) I love the color combination and thank myself every day that I didn't get black. (And I've owned two new black cars.)

Well, you can't go wrong with either, both colors are going to be hot! Between the two, I would lean towards black.

To me, there is no choice....my current 2003 6MT is black with black interior. I love it....yes, it gets hot, but (weather permitting) I leave the windows craced an inch, flip up the back vent portion of the sunroof, and put shades across the windshield. Black and black says pure sports car to me...IMHO.

I personally think a Black car is a timeless classic. No matter what, a nice shiny black car looks better than pretty much anything out there...

With that being said, black is by far the worst color ever to keep clean. Any time you drive your car will show dust/dirt even if you just washed it. Likewise, if you live in a hot climate, it might not be the best thing out there.

I live in Miami and I currently have a black Lexus SC430 and it gets pretty toasty some days... guess depends on your climate.

As far as exclusivity, most cars ordered by all dealers I'm sure are black/gray/silver/white, with a few red and blue. So if you dont want your car to be like the rest of them, go for the blue.

I think someone mentioned it earlier... dont pick the color based on what you like right now... do you see yourself in a year or two driving the same car in the same color or will it get old by then?

I did the same thing with the SC. Originally I wanted the reddish leather on black. In retrospect, I would have killed myself (or someone else) if I had to stare at red leather everytime I went in the car...

Get other people's opinions. Even though you can choose to wipe your with it, still get a poll going of what people think. You'll be surprised!

I went with the Platinum Graphite/Graphite leather combo...

Hey Marsb007, nice to see someone else from Miami on this forum. Good choice of colors! When do you get your car? I thought I was getting mine from South Motors on the 21st, but the dealer called me to tell me it was delayed until Sept 21 due to production shortages (something to do with the options I picked - fully loaded). Man I was pretty disappointed... a whole month longer, but there's really nothing i can do. It's on a ship coming from Japan as we speak, then it needs to be brought all the way out to here.

IMO, Blue Slate under direct sunlight is a girly color.

Looks ok when the sunlight isn't hitting it directly.

That has been debated a lot on a different forum and I'm assuming you're a certain person there. Those first two pictures of Blue Slate doesn't actually look like that in real life. I remember seeing those photos for the first time and got all confused at what color that was. Those photos really distort the true color.

On my LCD monitor, all three photos loook more like Athens Blue than Blue Slate. When I actually saw a Blue Slate G35 sedan, the color was dark gray with only a hint of blue.

South Motors is horrible. They wanted to tell me that a $44925 car (loaded except 4was) was going to be 825/month.... doesn't take a math genius to figure that was BS.

Sawgrass Infiniti is a "little" more reasonable. They try to screw you in other ways... either way, better experience overall (crappier drive to get there though).

Good luck with your car. I know both dealerships got part of their shipments this week. Call and see what's available.

The pix of the supposed Blue Slate car on this thread do seem to give a rather distorted view of the actual color. Here's a Blue Slate and Athens Blue side by side. Sorry the lighting wasn't great but I had literally less than 10 seconds to get the shot as the new owner of the Athens Blue car was driving it off the lot just as I snapped it. Mine's the Blue Slate G marked "SOLD"
