What will happen to a cvt transmission if a shop put atf in it instead of the ns2 cvt transmission fluid. I just looked over the old records and seen this. It's been 20,000 miles to now so im going to change it to the cvt ns2, in hopes that might help the shifting problem and no codes

Regular Dex, Plus, or Mercon will destroy a CVT. But there are lots of good aftermarket CVT fluids out there. The only way you'll likely find out if it's incompatible fluid is to save a sample and send it out for analysis.

Thanks for the info I'm draining it today and will see what it looks like. Will put the cvt ns2 in it and see if it does anything. If it doesn't help then it might be time to sell it for parts. It's a2005 and has 162,000 miles on it. Not worth putting a new transmission in it.
