I am about to get a Wix transmission filter for my 1998 qx4, i am sure that it is 4 wheel drive, because it has the selector and low and hi range shifter, but when i looked at the '97 qx4 filter, it was the same part number as the filter that was meant for the 2WD. does the '97 qx4 not have 4WD? or when Wix says 4WD they mean a different system? I did not buy my qx4 from the dealership so i dont know the choices.

I think 2wd or 4wd uses the same filter for the transmission.

I just did mine and the guy at the counter recommended the rubber gasket vs the cork because the cork type had a tendency to leak. Also, don't over torque the pan bolts or you'll have leaks for sure.

When I got my filter it came with 2 rubber gaskets, one which fit my trans pan (4wd) and a different looking one which I assume fits the 2wd.
