That is where it was on mine.elwesso wrote:The 70268 works very nicely if you place it between the radiator and condenser.
It's a good location, but involves pulling the radiator, belt-driven fan, etc.elwesso wrote:IMO between the radiator and condenser mounted low is the best place.
70264 is larger capacity, but I think it is a very tight fit behind the condensor. Have you done your Y34 yet?szhosain wrote:Is the 70264 better than the 70268? As I recall, the 70268 is what I had had installed on my 1995 Q45 - the 70268 seems a bit thinner and might be a better fit in the engine compartment ...(?)

Don't forget the foam airblocks also. They are crumbling by now.Skibane wrote:It's a good location, but involves pulling the radiator, belt-driven fan, etc.
So, while you've got the radiator out, you might also consider calling Joe for a fresh set of 4 hoses, fan belts (MUCH easier to install with the radiator out!) and maybe even a replacement for that cracked plastic fan and tired ol' fan clutch. (And BTW, how old is your water pump? )
No ... not yet.maxnix wrote:70264 is larger capacity, but I think it is a very tight fit behind the condensor. Have you done your Y34 yet?
You where there are hills? Do you leave it in D while stopped on a hill?szhosain wrote:Hmmm, do I need to? Has anybody looked at doing this on the M45's or the current-gen Q45's?

A few minor ones around here. I always drive in 4th gear setting (i.e., out of D) when I am not on the highway, so these are not taken in 5th gear.maxnix wrote:You where there are hills?
Um ... I try not to stop on a hill if I can avoid it. . If I needed to, I'd put my foot on the brake and keep it there while stopped.maxnix wrote:Do you leave it in D while stopped on a hill?
Point ... I will look into what makes sense to do on the 2003 M45 inre ATF coolers. There isn't much room inside the engine compartment for stuff!maxnix wrote:How long do you want to keep it? Principle is the same although the cars are different. The 5 speed is a lighter duty transmission.
I will definitely take a look sometime ... probably this weekend.elwesso wrote:I would think you could put one between the radiator and condensor like you do on the G50s.
WOW- $175.00? I paid about $ 75-80 last time I bought one from Joe-what is yours, gold plated?Black stallion wrote:Wes, or anybody,I just put a $175 oem trans filter on my 94 knowing I was going to add the cooler, but not knowing a couple ppl here said they removed theirs to add the cooler. What are the pros/cons of this or can I still keep the filter in addition to the cooler? - while we're on the subject of atf coolers
yes,and it comes with a special bracket formed to bolt right into place!the only mod would be to join the 2 output hoses from filter into 1 input for your single trans cooler built into radiator{or better yet replace rad. with a new model made for 94-96q that has 2 trans coolers built in}DrewQ45 wrote:Does anyone know if a transmission filter apparatus from a 95' can easily be transferred to a 90-93 G50? The thought just hit me.
Relaced my rad with aftermarket a year ago. I bypass the internal cooler for external B&M.qship96 wrote:

If you ask me, the external filter is a great mod. Nissan did it so it must be good!!! The clogging of the pan filter seems to be increasingly common nowadays and will do more damage than heat alone. (Temp level of transmission will rise proportionately as blockage increases) Do a search under my ID for transmission filter flush method. If done along with a chemical flush then external filter installed, there would never be a reason to clean/change the pan filter again!AlabamaDan wrote:So now we're talking about two mods, (1) a transmission cooler and (2) an external filter. I thought the cooler was enough.
