I honestly am liking it a lot so far. I forgot which package I have, but there are tons of HD channels. We never lose service during a major storm either. It's not satellite, which makes it win. The only con is if you have their internet, the Uverse ties in with it and if you're watching TV and using the internet, it slows down a tiny bit. Not a detrimental amount, but turn on more than one TV, and you'll notice it more. More computers and no TV isn't bad though. Just TVs and computers all using it kind of beats the sh*t out of it and it slows down. All in all, the TV service itself is wonderful. The interface took a bit of getting used to after using DirecTV for so many years, but after awhile, I've gotten used to it. Still haven't fully memorized the channel numbers though.

That sounds like a wiring issue, Gir.

Using U-Verse is like having a 4" intake pipe that constricts to 1/2" at the manifold.

Apparently, it's not. I've heard of people with the same problem. Doesn't bug me much. We rarely have two TVs on, and even when we do, it's still not all that bad. It only slows down a little that's just barely noticeable. Kills my torrenting though.

Every single person that I know who has U Verse says the service starts at DSL speeds and then drops dramatically the more ways your consumption needs to split the bandwidth. Their pipe may be phatty fibre-optic, but they throttle the sh*t out of customers at the household level.

Well if you beat it up with like 4 computers at once and 3 TVs, then yeah, it'll slow down. But with two TVs on and one computer, it still keeps close to the DSL speeds.

That's the point tho, that Fiber doesn't need that kind of bottleneck, it's... fiber...

It's friggin awesome. I can abuse the hell out of the connection and it keeps on rocking.

However, I'm a "tier 1" customer or whatever the heck it is they call early adopters, so my suspicion is that I get better service because of it. They also waive a lot of fees for me.

I've had a few of my friends who have had UVerse and none of them were with it for long. One of them had such bad bandwidth that he couldn't have two computers on the internet (one playing WoW) while watching streaming Netflix through his Wii on his television. My lowest-tier cable internet can handle two TVs with 10 people playing online games through a multi-port switch at the same time without even wincing. I will never give the product a try.

Besides, they have the worst customer service on earth. Even worse than Comcast, IMHO. AT&T can DIAF.

I personally dislike AT&T, but I'm diggin' the U-Verse interface and it's general TV service in itself. Isn't that the point of this thread? A opinionated discussion about the service and it's interface? Personally, it's great because it never goes out unless your internet is dead and it has a beautiful interface that works flawlessly. Plus the great amount of channels it comes with, even in the lower packages, what more could you ask for? I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. Unless you can afford DirecTV, then go for them.

I think it will work out pretty good for us(i hope).DirecTV was costing us about $90.00 a month and internet and phone was about $75.00 so i am going to save about $50.00 or so a month, plus they are throwing in a DVR.

We got a free DVR from UVerse. It's got a LOT of space too.

I like U-verse when I had it. What I liked about it was that it was so easy to use and always worked.

Ditto.

I regularly max out my speed everyday and never have issues.

Hmm. I'm tempted to try and max out my speed and see what happens.
