I have been following the thread on the AT transmission problems and considered myself lucky since I had no issues. I have a 93 with 92K miles. Two days ago, in a 4 mile stretch, I heard a whine from the right front of the car, 2 miles later, I lost 3rd to OD, after another 1/2 mile I lost 2 to 3rd, eventually as I pulled into my driveway, the car would not move at all. I followed the advice on the previous thread unsuccessfully. After this and unplugging the battery, I was able to get everything back except the 3rd to OD. I have never experienced a problem prior to this. My fluid on the stick was of good quality and I had no smell. Today, my Nissan dealer is telling me I need a new transmission as it is burnt up?

Seems to me that this should be the same issue as is being discussed with the SRC. Any thoughts?

Also, if I do need to replace the transmission, approximately what do I need to expect to pay for a rebuilt transmission installed? Anybody know a respectable transmission person in the St Louis area?

Nissan dealer quoted me approximately $ 3500. I laughed and told him to get it ready for me to pick up.

Thanks.

ROFLMAO $3500 for transmission. Think I'm going to need to unplug that sensor as well.Is that the only place we can disrupt the signal?OR can we do a simple snip at the ECU?
