I think I brought this up once before; please indulge me one more time.

I'm going to have Nissan Factory fog lights installed on my A/C 2.5 at the dealer when I get the car. What will actually need to be done? I may go speak to the service department tomorrow and I want to (sort of) know what I'm talking about. Just in case the guy tells me it will take 4 hours (at $100/hr) and they need to take a bunch of sh*t apart.

The labor charge shouldn't be more than 1.5-2.0 hours! I think you should try another dealership if they're going to charge you $400 just for labor. Plus the parts (fog lights, turn signal stalk) which will probably run you another $250-$300. If you're going to spend that much, you might as well go with an HID kit. I think they're trying to rip you off.

Thanks. I was just using that as an example. I haven't spoke to anyone about it yet.

I just don't want them to tell me they have to do a bunch of stuff like remove the steering wheel, etc. I think I was told once before that they only have to replace the turn signal stalk; the wiring was already in there?

Yeah, everything is already pre-wired. The fog lights just have to be mounted into the cut-outs, fogs hooked up and turn signal stalk replaced. Should only take 1-1/2 hours at most. Let us know how much it comes out to be.

is this install hard to do on your own? I'm considering getting some foggies.

I've installed fogs on my other cars, but I've always used a external toggle switch that fit into pre-existing peripheral spaces (or whatever they're called). I don't really feel like removing a stalk on a day-old car.

6 weeks and two days----that's all I have left to wait!!!

nissan does not offer fog lights as a dealer acc. add-on for the 2008 coupe or sedan you can only by them as a crash part peice by peice and wire them yourself.

If you have any DIY skills, then I suggest you do it yourself. It's not difficult.I've installed OEM fog lights on my 02 Pathfinder and my 06 Altima.I ordered the stuff as a kit. Fog lights, turn signal stalk, and in the case of my Pathfinder, a relay.I'm guessing that there is no kit yet for the 08 Coupe, but you should be able to order the lights and stalk at the parts counter. The car will be pre-wired, I'm 99% sure. You don't have to remove the steering wheel or anything. The only thing you remove is the top cover of the steering column. It's probably held in place by 3 phillips screws, access from the underside of the column. Then the top cover just pops off.The signal stalk can then be replaced in 30 seconds. Dead easy.As for the lights, each car is different. On my 06 Altima, I had to pull back the black plastic inner wheel well lining in order to get access to the back of the front bumper. My Pathfinder was easier. I could get access through the front.Like I said, if your handy in any way, then save your money and do it yourself.Good luck.

Are you sure? I've been told by more than one dealer that I could get it done through them. I'll find out tomorrow; I'm going to my dealer after work to get the skinny.

all4sho is right, there is no kit available. but that doesn't mean you can't buy the parts seperately. i'm sure you could find them piece by piece.

Yeah my plan is to buy whatever is necessary at the Nissan parts dept and have Nissan mechanics install them. I understand that there aren't specific kits available for these cars yet. This should work; I don't see why it wouldn't...

Get a quote ahead of time re: labour costs. As I've said before, it's not rocket science to install these things. As for parts or a kit, all it consists of is the two lights and the signal stalk. You can buy the parts over the counter.I still think it's something you can do yourself, but if you're not comfortable with that, then have them do it. You shouldn't pay more than 1-1.5 hours labour. Anything more is a ripoff.Good luck.

Heres the latest: It will cost ~$500 before an hour of labor to order/install my fog lights. Something like $170 for the stalk and about $150 each for fog lights (w/brackets, housing, etc).

What a racket. The good thing is that they will order them and will be waiting to put on my A/C coupe the day it comes in.

Wow, that's pretty pricey just for fogs! Maybe you should look into aftermarket ones and use the extra dough on HID's. Just a thought.

I'm thinking about. If I go after market, would the install (wiring) be the same? -- Just remove the old stalk and add the new one?

If you go aftermarket, you don't need the stalk. Of course unless you really want it. The car is already pre-wired so basically, it's a plug and play kind of deal. A/M fogs will come with a sperate relay switch which you can mount anywhere you want. You're going to have to run the wire for the switch into the interior of your car and find a place to mount it. If I were you, I'd go A/M and get HID's if you were actually planning on spending $500 in the first place.

I did a search and could not find out how to remove the fog light blanks so I thought I’d post this and save someone sometime.

1. Jack up the car. (I used two jackstands and a creeper to make work easy)2. Remove front middle shrouding (there are large and small pins holding this on, when replacing, the larger ones go in the front.3. Remove 10mm bolt located on top of the fog light blank. You can’t see it unless you remove the shrouding from the wheel well but if you know it is there you don’t have to.4. Unclip the bottom and remove blank piece.

Install in reverse.

My car is a 2008 2.5s and I purchased a set of factory lights from ebay. I couldn’t find the factory wires to plug into so I’ll have to wire them up myself. I think I’ll end up installing a switch next to the trunk release and all should work well.

Don't forget though there is no wiring harness on the 2.5 s for foggies so I'm not sure how they will be able to run it to the stalk when there's no where to plug the lights in!! I remember reading another thread where the dude has to return them to the dealer because his 2.5 didn't have the plug-in's for them!!

Yeah--I think that was me. I was quoted an estimate of 7-9 hours to rewire the necessary harness for foggies by my stealership service department. The tech that looked at my car was very surprised: he said this was the first altima he had ever seen that didn't have the harness pre-wired.

I decided to return the foggies + stalk for a full refund until I had more options. I then purchased and installed some sweet HIDs.

After trying to install a set of aftermarket foglights in the factory cutouts (unsuccessfully), that's not a bad idea. How much did the HID's run?

My McCullochs ran me $260 shipped. Do a search. I did a mini-walk through a while back. I show where I mounted the ballasts and what not.
