I forgot what a touchy-feely image AT&T had before it was bought by SBC.

Some of the items mentioned:
E-books -- Yes
GPS -- Yes, Oldsmobile offered the first factory option in 1995
Video conferencing in various forms (but they said it would be through phone booths)
Faxing from the beach -- Made possible in the mid 90s through portable devices from IBM, Motorola, 3Com, and Apple. You could put a Motorola PCMCIA data card in an Apple Messagepad and fax a document from anywhere with an AMPS signal, slowly.
Buying concert tickets at kiosks -- Yes
On-demand pay per view -- Yes
Online classes through videoconferencing -- Yes
Buying groceries without scanning individual items -- RFID can do this, but isnt being done
Watchphones -- No
Home automation through a PDA-like device -- No, but close. You can remote start your car with an iPhone
Talking life assistant -- Not yet
Carrying entire medical history on a card -- No, but the technology is there
On-the-fly language translation -- Technology exists
Electronically renewing driver's licenses -- Yes, but not at a kiosk
Electronic toll booth passes

The 90s feel like a long time ago now. So much technology separates my preteen years from today.

ID Software released the shareware version of "Doom" on December 10, 1993.

This shaped my future beyond anything prior or since.

I still think of cars from 2000 as "new"

SOme one has definitely had to have created a watch phone by now. I knew a kid in high school that got pages to his watch. Soon before pagers started going out of style.

There is home automation by phone. A German company that makes stoves and dishwashers have a programmable by phone stove. You can preheat it on your way home.

Wolf3D was VGA. A VGA adapter was required to play.

You're thinking of Castle Wolfenstein which came out in the 80s.

Touche. I have been out-geeked. I should have just said Doom > Wolfenstein 3D.

I have seen all of those but the last 2.

The last two seem really over the top for today's standards, but the others are right on the money.
The "Talking life assistant" seems like the most difficult to put together.

Depends on your interpretation, but I used to program Crestron automation systems to tie in to pretty much every thing from HVAC to lights and even security cameras. This could be controlled by both the wall mounted touchscreens and the portable touchscreen.

So... I believe that qualifies.
