i may be getting an 89 FB with auto transmission. the transmission is blown, so im thinking might as well swap in a 5 spd. i have a few questions...

1) i saw the thing on 240sx.org, but thats for an s14. is it the same thing for the 89? (minus the OBDII stuff, obviously)2) how much would the swap cost me?3) is it hard for a n00b mechanic to do?

ive replaced the transmission in my truck, so i know a thing or two about trannysthanks in advance =)

I have done the AT/MT swap on 2 of my past 3 S13s using those instructions from 240sx.org. They were dead on...even the wiring for the neutral safety switch. I had a parts car for my first swap and had a good idea about what I needed for the second from having done the first. The parts needed are listed in that same FAQ. As far as cost I paid $450 for the last M/T that I bought with 35K miles on it. Be sure to check the gear oil after install...my first S13's transmission blew a few days after I bought it because some idiot didn't check the fluids after installing a clutch. (A lesson learned: always check ALL fluids when buying a car!)

Question: I am doing a swap now with no parts car. What size and length bolts are needed for the transmission to engine? I emailed Midwest Parts Group and no reply. PS Sorry to jack your thread.
