So recently I bought another KA to replace my aging original. The seller must have thought he could save a little on shipping by dismantling the whole motor and sending it peice by peice. Right now all I have is the block with the pistons and rods in it, and the complete head. My question is when I get all the rest of the parts, what will I have to do as far as reassembling everything? Will I need to have the cylinders honed out? How about the crank and crank bearings or the rods/bearings for that matter. Any machine work involved there? Cause I've been taught that once you tear a motor apart certain things have to be straightened out before you reassemble it ortherwise it wont seal up right and burn oil like crazy.

Since the engine is in peices, why not check all your bearings and such? You should look into getting a rebuild kit, meaning gaskets, valve stem seals, new bearings, etc.

Now to answer your question, you'll need new head gasket, intake gasket, exhaust gasket, basically a new gasket for every one that was removed. Probably be cheaper to go with the rebuild kit.

I'd probably also go get a cylinder hone that attaches to a hand drill from Pep Boys or similar and do a very light hone. Probably a great time to replace the rings as well.

As for sponsors, i have no idea. When i ordered mine it was through a company here in Canada called Hi-performance.com. I paid 350$ for a complete kit shipped to my door via air mail. Was an excellent kit, felpro gaskets, clevitte bearings. everything u need. Could probably get cheaper if there was a sponsor carrying one though.
