Does anybody else have these unsightly black gobs of asphalt, glued to the inside/outside of the forged rims? They must heat up pretty good for rock to adhere so well.

Any recomendations for removal; chemicals or a tool? They don't come off easily...

If it is indeed asphalt, then it's got tar attached to it and that is what is causing it to stick. 3M's wax and adhesive remover should get it off. Just about any adhesive remover will probably work too.

Thanks! I'll pick some up and let you know how it works.

where ever you're driving is probably not the best. I had a problem like that too. I would definitely take it off with the 3M seems to work pretty well. The sooner you can catch when the asphalt gets on your car the faster and easier you can take it off.
