Here's breif, recent history of my current 300zxTT:

Bought the car earlier this year; it was bad in a cylinder so I had a local mechanic pull engine, etc. in preparation for upgrades.

Well, after installing engine, all upgrades, etc. I've been easy on the throttle being mindful of the break-in period, and shortly after starting to drive it again I noticed a puddle of coolant on the garage floor. Well, I returned to the mechanic, we got it up in the air, and we thought it was a leaky radiator (I purchased a used Koyo radiator - the only used part I bought lol). So...I purchased a brand new Koyo radiator.

Come to find out (after spending additional $300 on new radiator) that when pouring the coolant into the tube along the driver's side inner fender, and it literally goes straight thru to the garage floor :ohno: ; thus, clearly to me it wasnt the radiator. Please note the car did not overheat, etc. I have been topping the radiator with coolant since.

Keep in mind labor was roughly $3k for the engine pull, replacement of rings, bearings, 120k kit install, engine re-install etc.

What we'll be doing is replacing the used radiator w/ a new radiator (since I bought one thinking that was the cause), and of course replacing perhaps the reservoir (whatever is causing it to leak directly onto floor). The job will be more challenging b/c when upgrading we upgraded the IC piping, etc.

Anyhow, I've dropped the car back off to the mechanic, very stand-up guy / known him a long time, and want to know what YOU would expect in terms of additional labor costs? Keep in mind it did NOT leak prior to all work performed. What say you - I simply want this to be fair for both of us, keeping in mind I already paid $3k-ish for labor?

The res is easy to reaplce. It is held on by 3 bolts on the driver side. You need to pull the fender lining and have complete access to it. It is even possible it could the tube that goes to the res from the radiator could have a crack in it or just not connected.

As for the mechanic, if he was a stand up guy, he should replace or find the leak free and repair it. Even if it means replacing the tank which for him should only run 30-50 or even the hose which he should have some in his shop. Thats what I would do.
