Ive been on this site a while now but i jus recently decieded to become a member, and i also recently purchesd a Nissan 89 240SX from a friend of mine, and jus when i was getting my Mod purchases for my 240, the worse happens. I started experencing my car shaking when i was driving so i didnt think much of it, the next day harder shaking, then i knew somthing was rong, my "o" rings on my injectors were broke and the injectors were leaking gas, so i got that problem fixed, then the car kept shaking like crazy and my oil light would come on, so i checkd my car and i didnt need oil it had enough, and the car had this loud banging noise in the engine liek somone was hittin metal togeather, and my car lost all its performace , id be in 5th gear going 30mph..and if i sit idle ( like at a stop light) my car shots off, i was told i need a new timing chain and binder but i dont know any one have a clue whats rong

RIP MY 240SX

I hate to break it to ya, but if your oil light was coming on, I think your problems are a lot worse than just the timing chain. The oil light comes on when you have low oil pressure, not nessisarily when the oil level is low in the engine. When that light comes on it basicly means 'you're screwed, turn the engine off NOW'All that noise you heard afterward was bits of your engine doing things they shouldn't and the loss of power... well you're engine needs a rebuild. It's probably cheaper and easier to find another KA to swap in, or if you have the skrilla, just go ahead and do an engine swap Sounds like the engine you had wasnt taken care of very well.

Does the motor still have the loud metalic knock all the time or did it just happened one time?

If it's knocking all the time, then it could be chain whip against the timing cover; if so, fix it ASAP or else it'll tear up the inside of the timing cover and you'll end up with a hole in the timing cover also getting coolant into the oil.

The timing chain most likely skipped one or more teeth causing the rough running of the motor.

If it turns out that the timing chain is OK, then the knocking is probably a wiped out rod/main bearing(s).

Check the oil pressure with a temporary gauge.

Buy both chain guides; once you remove the chain, examine it for any damage, look at the small rollers on the chain; if they have grooves, replace the chain and both top and bottom sprockets.

With all that repairs needed, i would suggest, swapping that engine. Start off fresh

You got rod knock like no other. I just got my new engine in after having the exact same thing happen to mine at 200k about three weeks ago. Good luck to you, I had a ***** of a time doing the swap.
