Both Target and Big Lots are opening more stores than they're closing this year, partly because these buildings have been in the process of being built for a little while now, but also because they're able to pay cheaper prices for land and/or cheaper prices on leases.

Just goes to show. During a recession, those with money, get things cheap.

*edit*Ahh this isn't political at all. This can be moved to Gen Chat if the mods wish.

Ohh, it could definitely turn political by those who expect ultimate frugality from corporate America during bad economic times, such as those hammering Wells Fargo and Northern Trust, banks who didn't want money, and with Wells, they didn't want to cooperate with the government's plan, but they ultimately had no choice. A little insider info for you.

Completely off topic. I've been to the UP and I can see why you'd have the only G35. How many snow-mobile's does your neighbor have?

Housing should be provided to the people. It's not fair that some have jobs and money to pay for theirs.

I just have to ask, are you a forum troll? As in, are you someone that purposely says strange/stupid things just to rile people (a form of internet sarcasm)? Or are these your real beliefs. I'd like to know how to approach your comments.

Nope. It sure didn't sound like sarcasm which is why it made me do a WTF for a minute.

It is sometimes hard to convey the emotion of sarcasm without the use of the sarcasm punctuation symbols

Yes, Matt is our sarcastic politics-section troll, or at least our conservative one.

So long as it isn't too outlandish, I don't have any problem with it. This particular comment is fine and in fact provided some lulz. Anyone who bites that hook is a dim bulb indeed.

EDIT: On topic, I do think that those with cash are starting to come off the sidelines, i.e. our current 800-point DJI rally. It'll slip again, but not, IMO, all the way to the bottom of a couple weeks ago. I think that unless the earnings reports are TRULY awful, it'll continue to creep back upwards. We've got an awful lot of creeping left to do though.

The earnings reports don't have to be POSITIVE to ensure further gains, they just have to be less negative than expected. Awful results are already priced into the market, so that if they're just slightly less awful than expected, people will buy equities.
