I wish to lower my maxima, and i know when lowering a vehicle you need to go with a lower profile tire. The lowering springs that i want will lower 2.2 in the front and 1.6 in the rear. I currently have the stock size tires on my car, which are 215/55/17 and on to the question, What would be a good size for this application?

I lowered my Maxima with Tein coilover for a drop of about 2.5 all the way around. My stock size was 215/55/16 and I now run a wider rim with 225/50/16 and have had no problems. I would suggest going with a 215/45/17. Doing that will cutdown on your sidewall and you should have no problems. Although, I have seen people run stock tire sizes on lowered vehicles. If you have the money and want new tires, then by all means, get new tires.
