Yeah I read about that. They could have also implemented Android Auto into the 14-16 MYs (Model Years) too. However, Nissan initially offered CarPlay (only found in the Maxima), which kinda sucks for us Android users; but thank god the automotive gods answered back with Android auto for Nissan. And about that autonomous technology, I prefer not to have it, as it takes away the point of driving and owning a car in the first place. As that was one of the reasons that I got the SL without the premium package. And, what happened to the good old Craftsmanship over technology?Steptide wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 5:03 pmSome interesting new features coming to the 18 rogue. Most notably, Apple car play and Android auto. Would be awesome if they let us with the 17 premium package upgrade

We should be able to. I gaurentee it's the exact same head unit. We'll see if nissan leaves us high and dryitalianotampa wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 7:06 pmI wonder if there will be a way to upgrade my 2017 with premium package via software update to Android auto?
Will Nissan do the same thing for the 14-16 Models, as it is also the same HU as the 17?
Blame the dang world governments and Toyota and non-car people for making automobiles to become a boring piece of appliance.Rogue Jarhead wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2017 3:39 amI drive a lot, I love to drive. Why are auto designers such killjoys? First the automatic transmission in its various forms now autonomous driving. As datechboss101 said why even own a car. I always tell my kids if you can drive your car with one foot and one hand you’re missing half the fun of driving. Yes all 3 of my girls drive a manual stick shift car, which are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
I guess we won't get those long promised apps for Nissan Connect either?!?datechboss101 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 2:58 pmI also contacted Nissan USA, as the 14-16 M.Y. shares the same HU as the 17-18 M.Y., however, Nissan said that the pre-faced 2nd Gen Rogues doesn't get the Android Auto compatabilities at all.
As long if we keep on contacting Nissan Motor Co., then maybe we should be able to get the update for Android Auto and those horrible Nissan Connect apps (which I still don't understand their use at all).mitchrogue wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 4:59 pmI guess we won't get those long promised apps for Nissan Connect either?!?datechboss101 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 2:58 pmI also contacted Nissan USA, as the 14-16 M.Y. shares the same HU as the 17-18 M.Y., however, Nissan said that the pre-faced 2nd Gen Rogues doesn't get the Android Auto compatabilities at all.
I would love to see any modern vehicle actually get 5-10mpg better with a manual but pretty sure this is not the case anymore. Automatics and CVTs have become so much more efficient that they usually get better rated fuel economy than their manual counterparts. Back in the day, automatics were inefficient and also performed poorly which is why manuals were favored but this is not the case anymore.Rogue Jarhead wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2017 4:21 amAs far as fuel economy goes even with the changes and advances in automatics a manual will still get 5-10 mpg better in the same vehicle

Or people became lazy and doesn't want to have a manual. I do agree that autos and cvts have their own problems and can bring amazing MPG numbers nowadays... just look at the 98-02 Honda Accord V6 models w/ auto or the 1st gen Rogues, or any automatic vehicle for the failures.Rogue Jarhead wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2017 3:11 amsprocket wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2017 6:24 pm

Automatics and CVT ‘s have gotten better I agree, as far as mileage, but definitely not in reliability. Let me give an example of mileage difference. My daily driver is an 05 VW Golf diesel with a 5 spd manual transmission. This same car with the automatic installed will get in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s in mileage and the transmission is failure prone. I’m approaching 300k on mine with the original transmission (2nd) clutch) and I get 52-55 mpg.
My daughter has a 2015 Hyundai Veloster 6 spd manual she regularly gets 30-33 sometimes even better. The 6spd auto version is in the 26-29 range, closer yes but still not up to par. Look at the fully automatic “Smart” car rated at 36-38. That’s laughable when I first saw one of those I thought what a great idea, an easy to park commuter car that must get over 80mpg. Nope not even close.
Now there have been some improvements especially since 05 but the bottom line I think is people have been trained to drive autos.
