I know I should search, but I'm starting to reassemble my rb20 and I don't want to spend hours searching when I could be wrenching.

Ive got a 100% stock rb20 swap, oem head gasket and all that, with arp head studs. Ive read people use any where between 85-110ft-lbs. I was thinking since its stock Id just use about 90ft-lbs.

Any way I'll check back later when I'm ready to torque my head. Hopefully I can find my torque wrench...

just went thru this with s14 sport...

1st stage:torque to 30 ft/lbstorque to 50 ft/lbstorque to 76 ft/lbs

loosen all bolts in order and check stud 'snugness' in block and retighten if needed.

2nd stage:torque to 30 ft/lbstorque to 50 ft/lbstorque to 76 ft/lbs

torque all to ARP reccomended final torque.

retorque to final torque after about 500mi.

be SURE to use the arp moly lube as supplied and use it on both sides of the washer as well as the nut and threads...I have done this method several times now with good results.key here is to check final torque after 500mi, this allows for the engine to heat cycle properly.wouldnt be a bad idea to be somewhat gentle with it during those 500mi, course balls out normally doesnt hurt.

I'm guessing it's the same for all RB?

I think I'm going to take apart my 26 this week to get the block deep fried, I mean hot tanked.

Then I'll have to hone the cyls, new rings, new studs, check the valves, get the block and head shaved a small bit just to make sure its level, etc. It never ends. lol

pretty much, the 26 uses larger studs but again the torques should be similar to what i posted, just go to arp's reccomended final torque and you'll be golden.

Thanks guys. I ended up needing to take it to the machine shop to clean it thoroughly. They didn't clean it after they machined it and had metal shavings every were. Although they ended up not charging for it (hooray the rb-Q isn't draining ALL my money!)

So I'll probably put it together this weekend. And yes of course I'll use the ARP lube since they included it.
