I am trying to find some ARP Main and Head studs. I have search all over the web but could not find any. A friend is willing to sell me his from my old hometown. His price is $310 shipped. Is that a good deal?

Thanks

is this for the E or DE?

ARP does sell studs for the E, but not the DE.

ARP will custom make them for you for a nice price.

I say don’t use them if your running big boost. Nissan says the torque specs are 62 f lbs on the head bolts for a KA. I would go to 80 foot LBS Because Nissan did not factor 20 psi in to their equation when they cam up with those spec's.

um, why do you say not to use them if your going to be running big boost? That just seems kind of backwards, but I'm still learning so if you could please explain, I'd be grateful.

ARP makes some real nice stuff and if you can afford them then buy them. I think if you just increase your torque buy 20foot lbs then you can make the gasket last longer. I know a KA24DET that has the head bolt torque to 90 foot lbs. With a stock head gasket and is about to run 30 psi.

why stress the stock bolts? it seems to me that that just increases the chances of them stripping under sever detonation.

use studs. any decent engine builder will tell you studs are stronger and more reliable than bolts.

I've been wondering about this... so I went to the source. After hearing it from Race Enginerring, I called ARP. According to ARP, there is no fastener kit for the KA24DE.

However, according to ARP, it's quite possible that they might have bolts in stock the same size. If not, it's quite expensive.

Information necessary:1) Diameter and thread pitch of OEM bolt2) Thread depth in block (including any recess)3) Thickness of main cap (for example)4) Add 3/4" for nut and washer

I assume that this is what current sellers of KA24DE kits have determined.

My question is... assuming there are people out there that actually have ARP fasteners... can someone provide this information ?

I can have the machinist take these measurements but it would be nice to know them in advance. That goes for any and all of the possible fasteners (head, main, rod, etc) Thanks.

Even if you determined all of the above, it would cost you about as much to purchase the studs from ARP as it would from me, for example... ;) I have a very good deal on them, since I barely make any money. That makes for a good opportunity for the consumer to get them with almost no effort at all :)

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I mean no disrespect.

I don't know you. And I generally don't make large purchases of items I barely understand from individuals I do not know.

You've had fewer eBay transactions than me and four forum posts, three of which were about your ARP bolts.

Believe me, I'd just love to have a set at that price but I'm nervous about where I send my money.

And I completely understand your point of view... :) It's always a risk you take when buying a product online from someone you don't know. The only way you can determine my honesty is by feedback from other people who purchased the same product from me...

I guess it would be silly of me to ask for measurements of the bolts...

I can understand. I only hope that you'll have more of them as time goes by... and I see you around more.

I'm at least a couple of months before final assembly (considering I haven't *started* my rebuild) and if you're still around and have more, I'm sure I'll feel differently about buying them from you.

Not really a reseller, I just place very large orders in order to get them this cheap. I'm not an exclusive reseller FOR arp or anything like that, I just buy from them and sell. By the way, I only do this for the KA24DE(t) for being my engine of choice.

I guess you'd call that a reseller...:thinker
