my calipers and rotors on my 95 240sx is getting bad. so bad that the calipers are scrapping the rotors. and no it's not the pads. i've been replacing the pads like once a month. and it keeps breaking on me. i've been looking around for better brakes and was thinking about the 300zx calipers and rotors. Anyone know if the rear caliper and rotor of a 300zx will fit my 240? and what year 300zx brakes will fit? i've seen stuff only for the front wheels but what about the rear wheels? i've also heard about r33 brakes too. will that fit? if so what year?

the rear brakes wont bolt onto a 240, mainly because of the E brake design.. skip the rear brakes its a real pain to get them to work, but its doable... but certainly not bolt on.

Most 240 guys get the 26mm calipers... Theres some for sale in the classifieds..... which would probably be hte ones id recommend to you.

Do you have 4 or 5 bolt pattern?I didn't bother doing the rear because I didn't think it was worth it for the amount of work and parts needed. The e-brake mechanism on the 240 is built into the caliper, and the z32 uses a drum-in-hat mechanism. I'm going to swap in the z32 the master cyl pretty soon instead. If you do the front I'd recommend the aluminum calipers to save unsprung weight. All 26mm calipers are aluminum, but only the early 30mm calipers were(90-92.5 I think). 30mm calipers do clear stock s14 se/le wheels. You'll also need the z32 brake hoses, and hardlines that attatch to the calipers, which you can make easily. You'll also have to cut your splash guard to clear the z32 rotor. I had to bend mine also to clear the 30mm thick rotor, but I've heard that's not needed for the 26mm, but not positive. If you get it from a junk yard, hopefully you can get the complete package so you can save some cash, and get all the caliper hardware too.

Oh, well you failed to specify front or rear at the start of your thread, as you nelgected to specify 4 or 5 lug. You simply said your calipers and rotors are getting bad, then said you were thinking of upgrading, so I suppose I assumed that you were talking about front and rear. Are the pads wearing evenly? Do your brakes get so hot your wheel gets hot too? What are the condition and age of your calipers? What exactly are you doing when you "replace your brakes"? Did you machine your rotors? The more info you provide, will result in more accurate diagnosis. I've never heard of anyone just upgrading the rear though if that's what you're doing, but it would be possible. Anyway check this out, should answer your question about the rear z32 brakes, along with the front, & master cyl. on the same page.

My front set up is new 30mm z32 aluminum caliper, ss lines, custom intermediate hardlines, kvr cadmium blk rotors, kvr pads, all new oem hardware. My rear set up is stock s14 caliper, kvr cadmium blk rotors, hawk pads, ss lines.

Based on the current minimal info given, my recommendation is- either disassemble rear calipers to see condition if pistons, and if ok rebuild with new dust boots, and square-cut o-rings. Or simply get new calipers. If you have to get new rotors, then get new pads too. If your having problems, then best to start out fresh.
