So my armrest broke yesterday (meaning that it will no longer click into place, just go all the way up and down). I popped open the back of the seat and took out the armrest to find that the bracket that it uses to click into place was broken. I was wondering if there was a way to just purchase that bracket. I'd really rather not buy a new armrest as I assume they're probably pretty pricy. Thanks in advance for your help.

So I called Scottsdale and a new armrest assembly is 311.00!!! Ouch. Does anyone have another way of doing this? Any help is appreciated.

Is that for the full, upholstered unit? Have you tried Autogator or other junkyards, er, recyclers? If you have good upholstery maybe you could swap it to the replacement innards. What color is your interior?

That's a good suggestion... I've never heard of a bad armrest before, so you have a good chance of finding one in a salvage yard... glove compartments are a very different story!

I had the exact same thing happen to me about 8 months ago. Lemme guess...you were using the armrest as a place to prop yourself up as you were getting in? Thats how I busted mine. I made a quick fix though....I just stuck the CD changer cartridge underneith the armrest and it props it up just fine. Hell...I took out the factory CD changer (and entire stereo as a matter of fact) anyways. Anyone need a stock 10 disk CD changer?? Its in excellent condition! :D

Yeah, that's EXACTLY what happened with using it for leverage. Oh well, I guess after 244k lovely miles something's gotta give. I would love to purchase your armrest if it's not very expensive to reupholster it, etc etc. I'd really like to just get that bracket but I figure that's probably not possible. By the way, Heath, in regard to the scarcity of glove box...i could use a new one....any suggestions???

Sadly you're probably going to have to go new OEM for that... I checked everywhere I could find and had zero leads when mine broke. The hinge design is such that unless you have a very skilled fabricator replace the trim that includes the hinges (probably not cost effective), you're stuck with factory. The bad thing with interior trim parts is that pretty much anything with the black plastic backing will crumble - and finding salvage parts that are any better than the one that just broke in your car is almost impossible.
