nissan armada LE model 2006, 40 thousand Km, 2 months ago replaced cracked radiator plus hoses, after all fine. Last night engine running, A/C on, car parked, stopped working for a while, maint light came on (hot weather environment). This morning checked again, seems normal, no lights, eng cooling liquid normal level, eng temp low, A/C on for a while and eng fan was running, only lots of water dripping below right side, I believe coming from A/C draining line. When turning A/C off water stops and eng fan goes off. Any advice? Thank you so much.

What stopped working a while? The AC?

With the AC off, the fan will go off. It needs moving air to circulate through the heat exchanger to work. The water is indeed from the AC. That would be from pulling all the humidity out of the air so your cabin stays cool and dry.

Papasmurf, thanks for the reply. Answering your question, what stopped working was the whole car. But yesterday I checked the car twice, also drove for an hour, with A/C on, everything seems to be normal. Someone told me it could be the A/C coil, trying to get the moisture out (just like you said), since the car was stopped and with no impact air to help exchange heat, ended up creating ice and blocking any circulation, thus heating up for a while. Anyway, I'll keep an close eye on it, specially because where I live the temperature now in summer reaches 110F easily, plus 80/90% humidity, so I don't wanna get stuck somewhere in the middle of the road.

Wait so the car died? Like, the engine cut off and wouldn't start? Or did the AC just get hot?

Nissans (more than any other automaker I've seen) has condensors (or something... I'm really not sure what) that freeze up... especially in high humidity areas. Its something that has bothered me for years (why can't they get AC right?! Its not like its a new invention!)

Difficult to give you more details. My wife was the one driving when that happened, so guess what, you know women... Since I started checking, nothing more happened. But I hope to be only something related to condensor or nothing at all, at least is easy to solve it. I live in Middle East, middle of summer and Ramadan right now, you have no idea how bad is to get something fixed around those days!

haha I hear you man.
FYI, Nissan just released a new upgraded service part for your Armada. Its only going to help things if you really beat the snot out of your car (which only people in your market have done so far btw). Its a beefed up sway-bar.

Anyway, the AC should never kill your engine. AC cutting out and blowing warmish air still shouldn't happen, but its more normal than killing the engine. Happy hunting!
